Dream invader?

Postby JackRabbitSlims » Tue Jan 20, 2009 12:07 pm

Okay so I'm pretty confused.

Normally, every night I have amazing dreams. They're either about my life, or about some adventure that has really vibrant colors and cool looking graphics. Basically I go to disneyland in my dreams. Lol That's the best way can explain them.

But for the last few nights, I'll be having good dreams, and then they'll change dramatically to something scary. Something dark and creepy happens that makes me wake up scared and with my heart pounding.

For example, last night I was having a dream that I was in a rain forest with a bunch of other friends, seeing waterfalls, looking at the green and lush plants. And then we left and that's when the dream started to turn. We walked out into a junkyard with a greyish pink sky, and everything around us was dead. There was just scrap metal all over. So for some reason, we went to the hospital. My friend and I were sitting on a bed in the hallway of the hospital, and I looked down a long corridor a few times before the lights in it dimmed. The large door at the end (very far from us) creaked open and a shadowy figure of what looked like a small dead boy limped out of the door. Not showing us his face or hands. In the dream I called him my friend, maybe to try to change the feeling of the dream. But it wouldn't. My friend asked me if my friends always carried knives and I looked down the hall again to find he was closer and now had a large butcher knife held loosely in his right hand.

That's when I made myself wake up. I felt like a kid because even after I woke up I felt scared. Like the person in my dream could manifest into my room.

I truthfully cannot even remeber the last time i had a nightmare, and there's not really anything in my life that I can think of that might suddenly change my dreams so drastically. Any ideas as to why they might be happening?

I've found spells and charm bags to ward off nightmares. Any one ever found them effective?

Well, first of all, what a cool-sounding dream! Scary, yes- but cool. :wink: Sounds like something straight out of the movies. :28:

Having a particular dream style reoccur, though, tells me that there's an issue in the dreams that needs investigating and understanding. The reason we're dreaming certain things is because our subconscious mind is telling us that there's an issue we need to deal with in our waking lives.

So, that said, let's look at the particulars of the dream and I'll see if I can't help offer an interpretation. (By the way, so far as the herbal question- there's no harm in trying the herb satchels... (don't eat the herbs though- just have to caution you and anyone else who may read the post later- lots of herbs are toxic, among other things)... Anyhow, I have a friend who was helped a bit by an herbal satchel I made for him; to aid him in obtaining restful sleep-- so perhaps when making your satchel, focus on having restful, healing sleep as your intention rather than just keeping nightmares away. You still want to understand the message your dream's trying to give you, so try making it peaceful rather than just wishing it would go away.)

Some definitions to start:
Rainforest
-To dream that you are in a rainforest, suggests that you feel your emotions are being undermined and "cut down". Alternatively, the dream could represent your waking concerns about the environment.

Waterfall
-To see a waterfall in your dream, is symbolic of letting go. You are releasing all those pent up emotions and negative feelings. The dream may also represent your goals and desires. In particular, if the waterfall is clear, then it represents revitalization, regeneration and renewal.
-To dream that you are at the bottom of the waterfall, suggests that you are feeling emotionally overwhelmed. You are experiencing difficulties in coping with your feelings.

Green
-Green signifies a positive change, good health, growth, fertility, healing, hope, vigor, vitality, peace, and serenity. Green is also symbolic of your strive to gain recognition and establish your independence. Money, wealth and jealousy are often associated with this color.
-Dark green indicates materialism, cheating, deceit, and/or difficulties with sharing. You need to balance between your masculine and feminine attributes.

Plants
-To see plants in your dream, indicate fertility, spiritual development, growth or the potential for growth. Alternatively, the appearance of plants in your dreams reflect your caring and loving nature.
-To see droopy, withered or dead plants in your dream, suggest that you are at a standstill in your life. You are lacking initiative.
-If you are estranged from your children, then the plants can be seen as a representative for your your children.

Junkyard
-To dream that you are in a junkyard, represents fear, frustration, and anger which you have kept inside. It may also signify your discarded attitudes, old habits, and former beliefs.

Gray
-Gray indicates fear, fright, depression, ill health, ambivalence and confusion. You may feel emotionally distant or detached.

Pink
-Pink represents love, joy, sweetness, happiness, affection, kindness. Being in love or healing through love is also implied with this color.

Dead
-To see the dead in your dream, forewarns that you are being influenced by negative people and are hanging around the wrong crowd. You may suffer material loss. This dream may also be a way for you to resolve your feelings with those who have passed on.

Metal
-To see metal in your dream, signifies strength and character. It may also symbolize the inhumane side of society. Consider the exact type and shape of metal and what you were doing with it.
-To see solid metal in your dream, represents your libido and sexual desire.

Hospital
-To see or dream that you are in a hospital, symbolizes your need to heal or improve your physical or mental heath. You need to get back to the flow of everyday life. Alternatively, it suggests that you are giving up control of your own body or that you are afraid of losing control of your body.

Hallways
-To see a hallway in your dream, symbolizes self exploration and the beginning of a path that you are taking in life. You are going through a transitional phase in your life and journeying into the unknown. It signals spiritual enlightenment, emotional growth, physical prowess, new opportunities and mental passages in your life.

Light
-To see light in your dream, represents illumination, clear mind, guidance, plain understanding, and insight. Light is being shed on a once cloudy situation or problem. You have found the truth to a situation or an answer to a problem.
-To see a bright light in your dream, indicates that you need to move toward a higher level of awareness and feeling. Bright light dreams are sometimes common for those who are near death.
-To see soft or shadowy lighting in your dreams, indicates feelings and thoughts from the primal aspects and less developed parts of your unconscious.
-Consider the color of the light for additional significance.

Limping
-To dream that you are limping, refers to a lack of balance in some relationship in your life. You feel that the relationship is one-sided. Perhaps you feel that you are giving more than you are getting back or vice-versa.

Knife
-To dream that you are carrying a knife, signifies anger, aggression and/or separation. There may be something in your life that you need to cut out and get rid of. Alternatively, the knife may be symbolic of something divisive in your life. You may be attempting to cut ties or sever some relationship.
-To see a dull knife in your dream, denotes that your hard work is accompanied by little or no gain.
-To dream that you are wounded by a knife, is symbolic of masculine or animalistic aggression.
-To see an electric knife in your dream, indicates your power to get down to the truth of a situation quickly.

~~~
I think this dream is speaking to you about your feeling imbalanced and insecure with yourself at the moment. You begin your dream in the rainforest, which tells of a feeling of emotional disregard, though with the appearance of the waterfall, you are letting that feeling go- and embracing the life and mysticism that surrounds you--- Only to have it all disappear and rot away with the appearance of the junkyard and its scrap metal... which I think here, is symbolizing your feeling that whatever strength of character and personal strength you felt you had been embracing has dropped off and left you again. So you take yourself to the hospital in an attempt to heal yourself; are nearly successful, and are then again reminded of the limping, imbalanced, angry, repressed side of yourself. Are you going through a time of emotional turmoil right now? Are you being ostracized by someone close to you, perhaps? This dream only tells of the issue, but not much more on how to work to correct it or even where it's coming from. Perhaps it'll make sense to you and you'll know exactly what the dream is trying to relay to you, but if not, I'd suggest definitely trying to continue along with this dream sequence to gain more insight on how to correct this imbalance you seem to be feeling. If you have a personal form of divination that you use, perhaps try to do a reading for yourself to get more insight on your dreams and how to work toward a resolution.
I hope some of that helps! :28:
Holy crap thank you so much!
Its realllly helpful. A lot of those interpretations deal with my life. I just recently got a job (which I haven't had for 6 months) so I think it might of been me feeling bad about not contributing to my spouse, but the hospital shows the healing. I'm actually at my orientation right now. :)
Thank you soooo much once again, and I will definatly look into making an herb pouch. Know any herbs specifically that should be used?
By the way, dreams are totally correct. Lol like 2 months ago I had a dream about elephants, oceans, tall oaks, and red pomagranate seeds dripping down to my womb. I wrote in my dream diary that morning that I thought I was pregnant.
Two days after that, I tested positive.
Crazy yes?! Lol :)
Wow, that is awesome (about the pregnancy thing)! Congrats!
I'm so glad to be of some help-- and I'll look up my list of herbs I used in my friends dream satchel & will get back to you- I've got to leave my office before my husband thinks I've dropped dead at work! :wink:
Bright Blessings~!
Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear of the miscarriage. Those can be very difficult to go through. I hope you're doing okay....
I'm always here if you want to talk. :28:
So far as the dream interpretation book, I've looked at many but really haven't found one that I like. When in printed form, they seem to be very generalized, but there are some advantages to having a book versus using a good internet-based dream dictionary, too. (And vice versa.)
Often when flipping through the pages of a dream dictionary to find something specific/a specific term (because what you're looking for in a printed dream dict. is never under the title you think it will be, or the definition sends you to another definition also...) --while flipping the pages, on occasion you can run into things that actually apply quite a great deal to your dream (or cause the recollection of a part of that dream you had forgotten), so that's one advantage. Disadvantage is that it takes a very long time to look up all the elements and they're not right in front of you to refer back to if you're working on an interpretation... and like I mentioned before, they're really limited in content. I suggest finding a good internet based site to use as your dream dictionary instead- I use http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/ in addition to my book, but I really prefer the online option. Much more content, easy to copy and paste into a text file to compile all definitions together for an interpretation... and it's tree-free too. :wink:
Bright Blessings & pleasant dreams to you, Gemini. :28:
