Snakes

Postby [ShadowPhoenix] » Fri Mar 06, 2009 5:36 am

I had a dream that I'd fallen asleep on the living room couch, I then woke up in my dream and walked to the hallway, which is insanely dark, and halfway through the hallway I began to notice hissing.

So, I turned on the light in the bathroom and snakes were just covering the bathroom floor as well as several snakes in the hallway which I had walked over as well as several more to the other end of the hallway. A snake strikes at me but misses and then I wake up. I had this dream earlier today, perhaps one can interpret this?

Snakes in dreams can refer to psychic abilities. Perhaps you have a "new" ability coming.

Here ya go, Shadow Phoenix:
(definitions first, then interpretation)

Living Room
-To dream that you are in the living room, represents the image that you portray to others and the way which you go about your life. It is representative of your basic beliefs about yourself and who you are.

Couch
-To see or dream that you are on a couch, represents rest, relaxation, laziness or boredom. It may also mean you need to clear you mind and thoughts.

Darkness
-To dream that darkness comes upon you, signifies failure in some work that you are attempting. Darkness is synonymous with ignorance, the unconscious, evil, death, and fear of the unknown. If you feel safe in the dark, then it suggests that you like not knowing about certain things. As some might say, ignorance is bliss.
-To dream that you cannot find someone in the darkness, signifies that you need to keep your temper in check. You have the tendency to let your emotions get out of control and lose your temper.
-To dream that you are lost in the darkness, denotes feelings of desperation, depression, or insecurity.
-To dream that you are groping around in the darkness, indicates that you have insufficient information to make a clear decision. Do your research and do not rush into making choices.

Hallways
-To see a hallway in your dream, symbolizes self exploration and the beginning of a path that you are taking in life. You are going through a transitional phase in your life and journeying into the unknown. It signals spiritual enlightenment, emotional growth physical prowess, new opportunities and mental passages in your life.

Bathroom
-To dream that you are in the bathroom, relates to your instinctual urges. You may be experiencing some burdens/feelings and need to "relieve yourself". Alternatively, it may symbolize purification and self-renewal. You need to cleanse yourself, both emotionally and psychologically.
-To dream that you can not find the bathroom, signifies that you are have difficulties in releasing and expressing your emotions.

Snake
-To see a snake or be bitten by one in your dream, signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced. Alternatively, the snake may be seen as phallic and thus symbolize temptation, dangerous and forbidden sexuality. If you are afraid of the snake, then it signifies your fears of sex, intimacy or commitment. The snake may also refer to a person around you who is callous, ruthless, and can't be trusted. As a positive symbol, snakes represent healing, transformation, knowledge and wisdom. It is indicative of self-renewal and positive changes.
-To see the skin of a snake in your dream, represents protection from illnesses.

(Interpretation)
I think your dream is speaking to you of a sort of internal transformation you are in the midst of. You begin in the living room, the soul of "you" so to speak, and the "you" you present to the world; then are "awakened" (some parts of dreams are really literal, bordering on cliche) ...anyhow, after you're "awakened", you begin to then venture down into the dark hallway-- which symbolizes your journey toward this change and reformation of your "you". Contacting the snakes, I believe, is again an affirmation of these changes you're reaching toward, and the snakes in the bathroom are telling of your desire to essentially cleanse yourself of the old "self" that you wish to leave behind, for the new, improved self.
All in all, this is a really good dream. :28: (I'm jealous!).

Hope that helps!

hmm, I thought for sure it meant something bad...would it mean anything if...well in the dream the snake struck but I dodged it? does that have a significant meaning?

No, I don't think that your dodging the snapping snake has a special significance, Shadow Phoenix. The snake itself is representing the fears associated with transformations and change, so whether or not it bites you (or you dodge it's attempt) isn't really a significant factor.

Most often, the dreams we dream that seem frightening or negative turn out to reflect a very positive interpretation. It's the inconsequential-seeming dreams that end up bearing the most threatening messages. Our mind is a strange place-- and when we have little to no control of what's happening in there as we sleep, the messages that come about are often left bargled and confusing... hence the need for interpretation.
