thinking about quitting smoking?
but i'm not sure if i'm ready or not. i want to quit so i have more money for the car i'm saving for and so i can start saving to move out. i think i'm going to try cutting down at first because i don't think there is any way i can quit cold turkey. any advice? how will i know when i'm ready? i have been chain smoking like crazy latley and i'm getting tired of it and i'm getting tired of paying for it espically since they raised the price. any advice would be great! thanks!

My dad has been a smoker since he was fourteen and all through my lifetime too. What you need to do is quit because you want to, if you hate smoking, if it disgusts you what you are doing to yourself or the mere action of it, you are the most likely to actually quit. I don't know of any herbs that will help with this, there is medication, there is also counseling. But, if you cut back slowly and intend to quit entirely only when you begin to really hate it and hate what it does to you and those you love, then you can do it. Also, Tigereye and other kinds of grounding and guarding kinds of stones can help give you a boost when you do decide to go cold turkey.
When I quit many years ago, I had to do it cold turkey, with a lot of determination, and because I truly, truly wanted to quit.
But they do have some stuff to make it easier, I've even seen some stuff advertised from the state that is free....not sure if its the patch, gum, pills or what.
The other thing I found that is kinda cool is a pagan spinner ring....people use them for something to do with their hands when they get the urge.
Good Luck, you can do this if you want to.

Quitting...
I smoked for over 10 years and quit cold-turkey, too. I'm happy to say I haven't smoked in almost 7 years. I had tried many times before that, but **I** wasn't ready.
I have to agree with the others in this thread - YOU have to quit for YOU. If you aren't ready to quit, it will be nearly impossible.. I can say that from experience...many times.
Good luck! Just remember, you'll be MUCH better off when it comes to your health - never mind the money.

my friend is in the midst of quitting smoking right now and he fell off the wagon an couple times already. it's VERY hard to handle from what i hear-- from the physical cravings to the psychological ones. here's my advice: don't go at it cold turkey. just cut back each week. i know you want to save up money for a car, but like the other posters said, don't do it b/c you want a car-- do it because you just don't want to smoke anymore and want to be healthy! you could go on the patch to help with the physical cravings/withdrawls, and chew lots of gum or what not for the psychological "feeling" of having something to occupy your mind/mouth.
good luck to you!
good luck to you!
