Dream Control

Postby Mikhael » Thu Jul 09, 2009 4:35 pm

Does anyone know how to control what you dream, as in the night before you say "I'll dream I win the lottery" for example, and then it actually happens? I'm very good at vivid dreaming and I can catch myself in one about every other night but I'm trying to find a better way.

I personally have not found a way to do this as dreams tend to pull from images and experiences we have had which aids in the interpretation.

However, it is possible to exert some control over the dream without altering the base dream itself.

I've added things to mine at times however, if there is a message to be had from the dream you will not be able to add things that may alter the message.
Do not attempt, Achieve
Do not hear, Listen
Do not go blindly forward, See
Do not judge, Understand
Do not forget, for in this you shall learn nothing

There are things you can do. You can learn a lot about it by reading Lucid Dreaming books. Most of the tricks have to do with lucid dreaming, but hey, if you're lucid you can control your dream content so that should be just what you want.

One trick is to ask yourself all throughout the day, "Am I Dreaming?" and then really consider for a moment whether you are dreaming or awake. Look at your hands to see if they look normal. Look at a clock and see if you can see the time on it. In a dream you shouldn't be able to read a clock and your hands may look weird to you.

If you do this then you'll find that in your dreams you will ask yourself the question, "Am I Dreaming?" When you ask it in a dream, you will be able to say, "Yes I am dreaming!" Then you can have a lucid dream.

There are lots of other tricks you can learn. This may not be what you're talking about since you asked about regular dreams. I'm guessing you can influence your regular dreams by centering your daily activities around the subject that you want to dream about. Like Judge said, we typically dream about our previous day's activities.

Wow , very cool techniques! Personally, I am about as far from being able to lucid dream as I am to sprout a tail, but it is something that's always interested me. (The lucidity, not having a tail).

I believe that dreams are meant to convey a subconscious message to the dreamer, so lucid dreaming where you are just enjoying the clarity of lucidity is wonderful-- as is the occasional dream-control and even astral traveling... just don't forget in your dream pursuits to stop and hear the messages as well. :28:

Bright Blessings & Pleasant Dreams!

to control a dream takes enormous amounts of Will. It took me an extremely long time to control, to the point I knew I was taking the dream into my territory and making it bend to my liking, or, in the case of a nightmare, to overthrow the thought and win in the situation.

The struggle is enormous, and, if they are persistent, it can drain the emotional and physical energy from you and cause severe weakness afterwards.

It is a feat, yes, but sometimes, its not worth the end result. Thats my two cents.
