Not getting the right sleep & can't recall dreams - Help

Postby AmberPhoenix » Sat Oct 17, 2009 1:08 pm

Hi! Here is my delema and I would love any suggestions to help with either situation. My daughter has night terrors so I get interrupted sometimes several times a night to calm her down. I can't figure out what is causing her to have these. I am having a hard time recalling any dreams that I have, but I've been trying to focus on the emotions that I have when I wake up for the morning. Any suggestions for recalling my dreams even though I'm jerked awake several times a night?

I think this situation calls for a Dream Pillow for both you and your daughter.

What herbs would you suggest? I know that there are many herbs for sleep and dream help, but unsure which is the best combination and amount. Also, if you could guide me on how to make one I would appreciate it, I've never made one myself.

I always stuff mine with hay (I'm a farm boy and its available), but you can use cotton or any other real pillow stuffing.

I would use fill it liberally with Chamomile (which is the most important herb), then to a less extent clove, sage and if you can find it, vervain.

That should do it. When dealing with the proportions of herbs, just use your best judgment, however you don't have to over do it. The spirits don't require exact measurements.

Sorry to hear you and your daughter are having sleep troubles, AmberPhoenix. I don't know much that could help with night terrors, but I do have one tip for dream-recall: try not to move at all when you first wake.
This is a tremendously difficult thing to perfect, but it's worth the practice. As soon as you are able to wake and not move, you should have the ability to recall your dream. Take a moment to allow it to settle into your waking mind, then get up and either write it down or tape record yourself explaining it. In essence, you are keeping a dream journal, but it will help you to see patterns and therefore, interpret what you are dreaming. It's also the first step to learning how to astral travel- which may come in handy for aiding your daughter.

Some other things that may help her (and you) get restful sleep:
Spell to stop nightmares
Spell for a peaceful sleep

~Hope that helps!

Bright Blessings,
*M

(PS: watch for allergy signs, especially with your daughter-- some herbs can cause allergic reactions.)

Thank you very much! Vervain will be hard to find, but the rest I already have stocked so I'll see if I can find a supplier close or order it if need be.

Moonstone, that was exactly what my intentions were, astral travel, while using my sleep to help her, but since I'm having such a hard time as well, it's really tough. It's also interesting that you mention not moving at all once I wake. I've always done that even as a child, which is now harder because I have children on my own to tend too, but recently I've been working on this method. I actually feel better thoughout the day if I take the time to relax and settle before I start my day. I have been keeping a dream journal and even if it's only emotions from my dreams that I recall I write them down. It may seem simplistic, but at this point I'll take anything.

Guardian Wolf,

Another question, if you don't mind, about the dream pillows? Do you make them yourself or use a new pillow and pull out all the stuffing or pillow case? I apologize for all the questions, I'm still learning.

I make them new.

Thank you both again for all your help. Have all my supplies for our dream pillows (except for vervain, still looking) and the suggestion for laying still when I wake worked great, although I'm sill working on perfecting it.

You don't need to use the Vervain. It was optional, and it is hard to find.
