Messages In Dreams

Postby AmberPhoenix » Thu Oct 22, 2009 8:47 pm

I would like to know what anyone's opinion is on messages/letters/e-mails in dreams are? I had a dream I received an e-mail from a male friend who I admire quite a bit. The biggest problem is that I only remember the first sentence, but remember feeling very at peace. The e-mail read "Hello, Sweetheart, I'm sorry I've been so distant lately. " (that's the part I remember). He's never called me sweatheart before, but I do have endearing feelings for him.

The actual story is we had been e-mailing eachother back and fourth quite a bit and all of a sudden he stopped. It was here and there, but not as often. I blew it off because I realize I'm not the center of everyone's world, haha, and he has his own life too, although it honestly bothered me a bit. Is there anyway I can recall that particular dream so that I have a chance to remember the rest of the message? Should I take a message in a dream literally? Or is it my subconscious telling me something I want to hear?

Opinions, comments, or insight welcome :)

I've fallen asleep in mid-text (I'll be sleeping, and then wake up to text back and then fall asleep either before or after I've sent the text) and that has led me to dream very vividly about texting the person like I'd never fallen asleep.
When I would wake from these dream-texting sessions, my phone would still be in my hand and I would either have not sent/finished typing the text I was working on when I dozed off, or I'd have a billion new texts from the person trying to wake me up.
What I'm getting at is, I think that maybe texting (or emailing) in dreams is just a figment of the imagination at work, same as a dream. One theory (I say theory because I'm no dream expert) is that dreams result of a combination of things you remember vividly and the last things you were thinking before you fell asleep. My guess is that I dreamed of texting because I was thinking about it when I drifted off all those times.
I can't say for sure if that's what you're experiencing, obviously, because dreaming isn't an exact science and probably never will be.

I hope that helped.

Hi AmberPhoenix!

Perhaps the best way to answer your question might be to e-mail this person and tell him about the dream. Or you could put in a request to The Divine (or whatever description fits your personal belief system) to have the dream repeated or to reveal that part of it that was lost or forgotten.

Personally, I don't believe dreams or visions are made so complex that we can't understand them; being as they are trying to get information to us in the first place. Perhaps this was a message that this person should have a more active part in your life, and you in his, than is presently occurring. That's just an idea though.

Hope this helped some! many Blessings to you!

One Walker,
Those are really good ideas. I will do both, request the dream be repeated so I can get more detail and then talk to him about it. I really never thought of it like that, that we would only dream to our understanding, that they are more straightforward and less complex than we think they are. You're statement really cleared a lot up for me on my recent dreams in general. I should stop looking for their "secret" meaning.

Blessed Be!

I've actually done this as well, similar at least, it is a good point though regarding thought before falling asleep. I don't remember exactly what I was thinking before I fell asleep, but if I talked to him that day it may have held in my mind.

Thank you
Blessed Be!
