Desired skill advancement

Postby izzybit » Sat Nov 07, 2009 11:02 pm

Ok so I understand this doesn’t work like a blog but I’m very interested in advancing my skills of healing through meditation and other outlets, does any one have any other useful tips or resources to look at to help obtain this?

Energy healing practice ideas

Good Books

Hands That Heal by Echo Bodine, or Hands of Light: A Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field Field by Barbara Brennan. Both are primers for healing courses. You could also study Reiki.

Since you're inclined toward healing, you're probably intrinsically "empathic" as well, which tends to come with that territory. Be sure to meditate after healing someone (or something) and separate your energy and emotions from theirs. If you take it on, it could make you depressed or physically sick. Make it a habit to practice energy hygiene by using a "clearing" technique that you prefer after any healing session, like wash your hands, take a shower, smudge yourself, what have you. This will vary according to personal preference. The point is not to "take on" anyone's energy.

Healing Opportunities

There are lots of "practice" opportunities around you:

* Practice healing animals. By listening to what their bodies are telling you, you can key into where the healing is needed the most. Sometimes it may not be physical, but emotional healing that's needed, so be sensitive to that also. They feel angry, frightened, resentful, and happy just like we do.

* Practice healing plants. Walk up to a tree, try to sense and put your palms where its aura begins, then send it healing energy. When you heal trees, they may spontaneously start healing you back, so be ready for that, and just continue with your healing work. They may energetically scrape your auric field, or pull debris out of your crown chakra, or they may relay mental information to you that you'll find peaceful and enlightening, etc. They are powerful healers, but great to practice on also. You generally don't have to cleanse yourself after healing plants. In fact, it's advisable to try to retain as much of their energy as possible.

* Practice healing the Earth. There's an energy "net" in the Earth's atmosphere. It's full of more negativity than positivity. Send healing energy into that net. It's sorely needed. There's a lot of worry, fear and violent thought-energy in that net, but there's some love there too. Increase the love energy within it. However, connecting to that net can be destabilizing, so be sure to cleanse yourself afterward, and disconnect.

* Practice healing (willing and open-minded) friends and family. Have them sit in a chair in the middle of a room, and slowly walk around them while using your palms to feel the quality of their aura -where does it begin? what do you see in it -words, colors, quick scenes that play out like holograms, the condition of the chakras, etc.? Make mental note of hat you see/feel, but don't share them with the sitter. Resist the temptation to turn it into a "reading;" otherwise you'll get distracted from your intent to heal. Keep it a healing session instead, and send energy into the parts of the body/mind that need it. Be sure to cleanse afterward so you don't take on their energetic crud; humans have a lot of it, and it tends to be contagious.

* Practice healing the ground. You'll be surprised at the energetic difference you'll sense from one location, compared to that of another. The things that have happened at any location, whether good or bad, will continue to resonate there vibrationally, and you will feel it clairsentiently. It's a good exercise, but be careful with this one. Disconnect afterward.

Feel free to share your experiences with these exercises with us when you get the chance. :)

Ethics of Healing People

How to prevent energy loss from certain environments

Postby izzybit » Tue Nov 10, 2009 4:14 pm

Ok thank you so much those were really interesting suggestions I had never thought of. I guess I’ve done the ground healing before but didn’t realize that’s what It was. I always try to keep my room charged if that makes since. Also do you have suggestions for how to help block energy. For example if you walk into a room its not a physical presence that I feel but a lingering energy that instantly makes me tired. How can I prevent this major energy loss on my end? And thank you so much for your help.

Also I just wanted to say how amazing I think this site is. I’ve been independently studying for almost three years now but its great to know there is an outlet to get answers and interaction from people with experience. Thank you Kassandra and Joelle for your replies!

Benefits of a strong aura

Your question is textbook for an empath to ask ...just as I suspected, lol! On your end, you could use protection spells, crystals, herbs, etc., and there are plenty of suggestions for those on this site. But really the best defense is a strong offense. Getting your auric field strong is your best bet. Focus less on blocking what's outside of you, and more on strengthening what's inside of you.

If your health is great, most psychic debris in the environment, including peoples' negative thoughts toward you (called "psychic attack") will just bounce off you like little fleas. But if you're not taking care of yourself, it leaves a lot of openings in your aura. Then, yeah, your energy will get drug through the mud because negative energy will just walk right through those openings, into your auric field. It could actually sit around and stay with you for a while. And "a while" could mean hours, days, weeks, months, or years --all depends on how closely your energy resonates with the negative energy. These are not necessarily "entities," but just energy. Occasionally it could be an entity or entities, but that's rare. I'm not making this up, nor exaggerating. Just things to be aware of.

You're already aurically porous to begin with by being empathic (like I said, that comes with the territory. Without that "porosity," you wouldn't be able to intuitively "diagnose" what needs to be healed in others). It's extra incumbent upon you to be in the best health as possible, because though you are channeling universal energy in the healing, you are also mixing some of your energy in there as well, and if it's not good energy, you do more harm to others than good really. For example, if you're harboring a lot of anger, you're infusing other peoples' auric field with that same energy, etc. It's all just energy.

Read through my Find Balance post like it's a checklist, and do an honest appraisal of how you take care of your body, and your mind. I mean be brutally honest with yourself. Every bit counts. People were PM-ing me about what they identified as needing to change in their lives, or what were leeching them of energy, that they hadn't noticed until they read over that checklist and carefully evaluated their activities and environments. It seems like such obvious stuff, but you know, you get busy, you don't notice things, and before you know it some area of your life is grossly imbalanced. I even read through it from time to time to check my own self. If you make adjustments to your lifestyle accordingly, believe me, you will feel the difference in your energy when you enter any environment.

Center and ground yourself regularly throughout the day. I posted some additional information for empaths in the Ask Kassandra forum, as well.
