Meditation Tips
Getting into meditation...that is a tough one. Well, I let my mind wounder not unless it is an exercise. Although whenever I need to concentrate on one particular thing..well..for example if your mind wounders and your concentrating on flowers. Make the word flowers pop up into your mind and get back to it. Or just push the image or thoughts out of your mind. Hope this helps.

I don't know if anyone has ever mentioned this, but this is what I do to focus on meditation and not let my mind wander around. It always works for me!
Visusalize a blackboard. Start by drawing the number 1 on the board. When you feel you are finished, move up to 2, and so forth until the number 12, then go on to continue to your meditation. After I'm done with my main meditation, I do the same blackboard technique, except I start backwards at 12 reaching all the way down to 1.

When I enter a meditative state I feel relaxed and very calm. I’ve done it for years as a technique for stress management before I began my path in Wicca. So, it has become quite easy for me to ignore all the outside noises and slip right into it without much thought. I can even do it while standing up, but not to deep because I lose my balance then.OK what does it feels like when you are deep in meditation. Is it like a trance you enter into? When I meditate every thoughts go outta mind.I feel like I am all alone.I can think whatever I like. What do others feel in meditation?
On the occasion when I do have problems clearing my mind, I focus on my breathing to push the thoughts out and since following the path of Wicca I now use the Goddess chant as an alternative to my breathing. Once I push out the stray thought I return to a clear mind. It’s normal to have a stray thought from time to time. You can’t help that. The trick is to get rid of it. You can let the thought finish or push it out. You can also use incense and candles to help set the mood or focus on. I use a candle and a specific incense for my meditations.
Meditation can also be good for problem solving. Once you become good at clearing your mind and maintaining that state for a period of time, you can bring in a problem you have and focus your mind on solving it. The ability to clear your thought allows you to focus your mind on a single problem instead of having ten other things swirling around at the same time. You will also discover that you feel better and more relaxed as a result. My migraines and sleepless nights disappeared not long after I began regular meditations.
Currently, I am practicing visualization during my meditations. I am getting quite good at it and have had some interesting experiences.
Only through silence can we truly hear the words of the Goddess and God.
like the new pic baratoz.
but that very true, visualisation in clear meditation is so much stronger then having the visualisation compete for dominance.
i find my basic meditative state is a state of nothingness(im working on maintaining active consciousness) where sometime soon my eyes just open as if no time has past. sometimes i hear things and such but i really need to work on my meditation.

Thanks, I picked it up somewhere. I think it is a very cool pic. Meditation is a great focusing tool.like the new pic baratoz.

Many do that is why with some meditation styles you do not close your eyes but focus on a fixed point.I'm the type of person who falls asleep whenever I try to meditate
Counting breaths helps many, count to 10 each time , if you suddenly find your self at 15 you know your mind is wandering but dont be angry or frustrated just start at 1 again. Trying to "relax" for to long can also be a problem, start with short time 5 to 10 minutes long enough that you should be able to relax and centre your self not long enough that you start thinking of all the things you shouldbe doing else where.
Try one thing at a time though, learn to meditate then learn to use the stillness and concetration that brings. Trying every thing at once has all the chance of doing a tripple twist with back flip off a high board first time it will just get your frustrated.
If you try only one thing at a time then it's also far easier to gauge if it's working, and if there's a problem then you know where it is. If you try 10 new things and you aren't successful then you don't know which one (or more) of those things was the problem.Try one thing at a time though, learn to meditate then learn to use the stillness and concetration that brings. Trying every thing at once has all the chance of doing a tripple twist with back flip off a high board first time it will just get your frustrated.
Re: Meditation Tips
It is very helpful to find a Quiet Place to meditate every day. I have a small corner of my room specially set aside for meditation. Using a recorded guided meditation or having someone speak a mediation script while you are relaxed with eyes closed can remove you from the stressful thoughts and feelings.
Re: Meditation Tips
I approach meditation and astral projection about the same- it just becomes a matter of how long I go through my relaxation techniques I suppose.
Have any of you ever heard of Pema Chodron? She's a Buddhist nun. She's written a bunch of books and has given a bunch of talks on her views of being spiritual. Sometimes I listen to some of her audio books when I'm just hanging out. I'm not Buddhist, but much of what she has to say I find useful and relevant to my own life..I would highly reccomend looking her up. There was a whole chapter in one audiobook I was listening to that was devoted to meditation and clearing the mind. She is an expert in meditation, but openly admits that in her thirty years of being a buddhist nun, she has never been able to FULLY shut her mind off.
She believes that the view of meditation is skewed... that the mind darts around during meditation in order to work out its problems. Meditation is a time to relax, but also to acknowledge what is going on in our minds in a quiet, non-threatening setting. In our fast-paced world, we often don't get time to listen to ourselves; it just gets lost in the noise. I believe in order to shut the mind off, you must first listen to what your mind has to tell you.
Bright Blessings
