I was trained in a tradition that didn't allow the use of electric lights during a ritual. I've never heard of that before or since, but it's become a habit with me.

In my circle we don't use electricity at all (except when it's -40 out and someone opens the back door so we turn on the space heater LOL) but it's really for ambience and power conservation rather than some rule. We do use a LOT of candles though. Tealights burn down and are replaced each night, and spell candles aren't reused, but the rest of the circle candles are large pillars then are used over and over. The gods don't seem to mind, though when the energy lags or it gets too late the West pillar always gets put out by something! It's kinda funny, actually.
