Black Magic

I also believe in neutral magic. It is how you use it.

The first thing I can relate to magic is a gun. In itself, a gun can be a useful tool. You can use it to obtain food, target practice, collecting or self defense. However, it can be used for murder. Karma will come back to haunt you.

Always remember the three fold rule. If you do something bad to someone with magic, it will come back to you three fold.
by most standards, black magic is magic done for reasons involving self gratification, and not worrying about the morality of it.
So if somebody did 'black magic' but was still concerned about the morality of it then it would no longer be considered to be 'black'?

Personally i dont agree with magic being labelled as 'black' or 'white' because someone may do what others would consider to be 'black' magic but for a good purpose. But thats just my opinion :D

Well, I beleave that all magic is neutral. It is the witches intent that makes it good or evil.

For example:
1)Your friend is in love with a girl. You think the girl likes him back. So you cast a spell to push them both in the right direction. Making everyone happy.

= Good magic

2) Your friend is in love with a girl. You think that girl likes him back. You also have the knowledge that an enemy of yours also fancies that particular girl. You cast the exact same spell to do the exact same thing... but instead of your intent being to make your friend happy, your intent is to ruin your enemy's chances with the girl in an attempt to spite him.

= Bad magic

Yea thats basically what im trying to say, although thats not how it came out  . There are some odd circumstances though, for example: a guy and girl love each other but for whatever reason break up and one of the pair goes out with someone else. Now then, what sort of magic would it be if someone used a spell to get the two in love back together thus ending the non-loving relationship. Bearing in mind that this would result in overall happiness for the pair. Would this be 'white' or 'black' magic (good or bad). Would the way the magic was viewed change if the caster was one of the pair in love?

i do believe there is white and black magick, I think it also depends on the person and there intensions. I also think if some one was going in to a spell and was not aware of the full intensions of the spell and what they intend then they could do black magic and not know of it.

Well I use black candles for good things so the color thing bothers me a bit.
I always try to put "And let it harm none" marker on every thing I shoot out into the universe. Kind of a magical disclaimer. As far as casting things on others without their knowing or permission I really only think thats cool if its a defensive thing. I have an example from a story I read once.
A powerful witch is walking by a river and sees a man beating his wife and child. He cannot stand the sight of it and kills the man on the spot with his most powerful spell. The wife and child begin crying and screaming that they will starve now and that he was not really a bad person. Even though his intention was good and the man was bad the effects of his intervention harmed more than he intended. He spent the rest of his life taking care of the woman and child.
Just a little parable but it relates I think.

Magick in its raw form is neutral, but consider the spells. Curses, hexes, smiting, castrating whatever...

Those are bad. I don't see black as a bad color so I am reluctant to that association. If you consider the spell as the intent then yes, it can be bad or good. But there are spells specially designed to do harm.

The girl and boy thing is purely psychological. You would have to take in balance too many things, from free will, to the benefit of both to even the fact that you would be bad because you let them suffer. Too much of a hassle for something that can be fixed without magick.
