Is anyone else an Empath?
Re: Is anyone else an Empath?
I personally need to start learning how to suppress it because it is starting to take over my thoughts, and I can't let that happen. I see auras and hear moods. It's natural, and I also have natural prophetic dreams, and I naturally can read people. I just have the entire psycic package, and I use it, but I can't have it take over my head because i still need that lol!
Re: Is anyone else an Empath?
I may be an emotional empath...Especially when people around me are arguing I can feel the atmosphere in the room becoming more and more filled with negative feelings and sometimes it's like a burden on my chest or exactly like the sensation you get when you're scared...but I just get the need to get out of there fast because it's overwhelming.
But at the same time I'm a very emotional person.

Re: Is anyone else an Empath?
I think I might be.
For the past several weeks, I have been picking up friends and family's psychical pain. It they hurt their wrist, my hurts for a couple of hours. If they have a head ache, I have one. But what is odd is, if their right wrist hurts, my left one does. It they twist their left ankle, my right one hurts. Is that common?

Merry Meet. It is not abnormal that you feel the opposite of what another is feeling. As a human being, you naturally want to channel everything and make a balance out of it. I have met people who become overexcited when they feel someone who is upset and/or depressed (still do not understand the difference, but oh well). Mentally, you will try to cheer them up to a natural human state, or 'normality'. It could also be a result from a form of OCD where everything must be balanced. Basically, your mind will, one way or another, find a balance so one person will feel one thing and you will feel the exact opposite that they are.
Just a footnote since so many people seem like they are struggling or are unsure of their abilities:

Re: Is anyone else an Empath?
I am an emotional empath, It's really hard but somehow you have to manage to turn it off to really be of any help to anyone.
Or else you'll just be a crying, angry, or cold wreck! lol
I let my guard down with my family or when i'm watching movies or shows and I get it all out then. I am able to do certain things, and turning of or silencing my emotions is something I've finally been able to do after lots of embarrassing events.
What sucks even more is i'm naturally an emotional person myself so on top of dealing with mine I had to deal with everyone else's so it was either learn to deal with it or have my head implode due to stress XD

Re: Is anyone else an Empath?
I feel like an empath. I have a unsettling feeling in my stomach that never really goes away, and makes me want to cry for no reason. The feeling gets worse around emotionally charged people(angry, sad, depressed ect.), and crowds, like I feel nauseous and want to throw up.
Also, I have trouble pinpointing my own feeling sometimes. I'm here on this site to learn how to deal with, manage, control my thoughts and feelings, before they kill me. Cus, sometimes I think I'm going crazy!
I hold everything in because I don't know whats real validated feelings or just my head confusing my heart. Empaths "live" too much in their head, Ive read, so how do you NOT think too much?

Re: Is anyone else an Empath?
Following Peaceful Souls' link gave me a lot to think about. I found videos that show you how to clear negative energy and get yours back on track. Also a clip on shielding yourself from negative energies. So I'm practicing that and reading more on how to cope and use my ability. I'm alone alot, and for some reason where I live, it's been hard to be happy. I was wondering if there is some residual energy left behind. Sometimes the most hateful and mean thoughts come to me. I have tried burning sage incense to clear my home of negative energy, and it works for a day.
Dont know what else to do about that, for now I work on myself.
Only positive thoughts for me from now on. As best I can anyway. Nobodys perfect.

Re: Is anyone else an Empath?
Glad the link could help. The clear my home from negative energy, along with myself as well, I do a monthly ritual to cleanse myself and my home. I always do it on the night of the New Moon, and it is rather simple, yet it is very effective! I would highly suggest you do the same, and you make your own so it will be more powerful.
Re: Is anyone else an Empath?
I always feel bad about calling my empathy a burden but most of the time it really feels like it is. My main problem is I get to the point where I can't distinguish another's emotions from my own. It often makes me confused as to what I want and whether I'm happy or sad. My fiance and I had a great relaxing day last Friday and I had felt in such high spirits and then after one hour with my family I was a moody, weepy wreck. I am going to look into those protective shield and grey candle ideas. They sound amazing! Does anyone else have tricks for clearing away those negative feelings?

I, personally, would try to first meditate and clear all thoughts from my head that I do not need, and then I would spend a day with the family. If that doesn't work, then you can go right ahead and do spells and tricks to get rid of negative energy.

Re: Is anyone else an Empath?
Pretty massively, yes.
I find that it's really good when I'm out on a walk to the grocery or something, because I can easily tell (even from a distance) whether someone has a good or bad energy. So then I can walk another direction, or I can say Hi.
Recently there was this tall, skinny homeless man walking my direction in about his 40-50's, and he just had this very innocently happy feeling about him, but also very lonely and sad. I gave him a big smile and said hi. Then when I got out of the store, I was walking back to my house, and I saw him walking toward me again! And he seemed surprised to see me again and we both gave eachother big smiles and greeted eachother once again, and I had to do everything in my power not to go up and give him a huge hug. I started crying once I got home.
So it can be really good, I thought that was nice because I'm sure he gets it really hard, as people tend to just group all homeless people into the 'pest' category.
There's lots of instances where I've met people and they've always been on my mind. Sometimes I'd have picked something up around the moment I said something or felt something from them, like a flower or something, and I keep those things on my altar as kind of reminders and hope that they're doing well.
Anyway, I'm very much an Empath, and I don't bother to put a shield up anymore because I'd much rather be a help than to block it all off for my own sake. Not that I'm putting anyone down for having their shields up, I think that's perfectly fine. No one should be expected to feel such a huge range of emotions from all directions all the time, but I'd rather keep it that way. I've been like this my whole life, anyway, before I knew the term, so it's familiar to me.
It can be a bit annoying, considering I'm a guy and everyone always says that guys shouldn't cry or react to things like I do but oh well
