It's not very mystical, but there it is.
...Well did you know that Genevieve is actually a French name and is the root of many newer names- (like mine for example, Jenni- as well as Guinevere, Gwendolyn, Gwenifer (that's a new one) and the usual spelling of my name Jenny...) all of which mean "White Wave" or "Fair One".
(But Dawn just means dawn)
So of the two, I'd have to say that Genevieve is the most mystical of the bunch. :28:

I did read in a book once that Genevieve meant "magic sighs" I thought that was pretty interesting. Usually I use Genevieves Fire. I like Fire, love Fire Goddesses, my patron goddess is Brigid (Celtic Goddess of Fire), sometimes I sign my spells Genevieve of the Fire. Interestingly enough I'm an Earth sign, but my Venus sign is Leo which is Fire. Not sure where I'm going with this...

a "magical name" is what you make of it.
I've had people look at me funny because I don't have a name that I consider to be my "magical name" I don't want or need to have a special name for that. I don't want or need to be introduced to the gods under a different name- they know who I am.
My name is Renee, and I have a nickname- Fuego. I answer to them both equally readily. Some have argued that "fuego" is my "magical name" I say that one is no more or less magical than the other. I am more apt to use "fuego" in certain settings, but I've answered to "Fuego" at work countless times because my circles of aquaintence overlap (it's really more a bizarrely-twisted network...)
In my Grove, most people know me first as Renee, most know that my nickname is Fuego, but only a few actually call me that. it's their choice really.
My aproach to magic is very hollistic/organic: nothing is more or less magic than anyhting else, a steak knife from your kitchen drawer has as much magic and potential as a jewelled athame. One just ooks prettier.
The true magic is life, and existence. Everyhting is magic, magic is within everyhting. There is magic in the crumpled up napkin sitting in front of me.
To alter a line from Madonna, "Magic's where you find it"

Beautifully put, LaFiamma- and I agree.
(By the way, doesn't Fuego mean Fire in Spanish?) :28:

With me its weird, in my life i have always felt like i wasnt where i needed to be spritualy up untell i found out about wicca, some things just all of a sudden tie down and make sence sence i have started my new path. I always have belived my real name was Addalaide on my hospital cirtified birth cirtificut it says Addalaide on it, about a year ago i ( was forsed) got my lerners permit. I had to have the state cirtifided birth cirtifucut, and this was the first time any of us had seen it sence my parents didnt ask for one to be sent to them, and we found out the state mest up almost 19 years ago and didnt put Addalaide down as my real name. Once i started to learn about paganisum and wicca i found out about these "magickal names" and all of a sudden it clicked, that was my magickal name, the God and Goddess did this for me. I belive that with all my heart also. Every one still calls me Addalaide or Addie for short, and i dont think but my family ( not even all of my family ) and I knows my real name.
But the way i know some people come up with a magickal name ( this is one of the ways i have read i know alot of ways ) is people use there life number found in numberolagy. i belive my number is 6 witch has the letters of F O and X as the 3 letters some people just go by Fox witch is an easy way, but some people take it a little further like take the X for Xan and use that as there magical name. This of corse is sometimes a little hard to come up with. I couldnt think of a name that started with f or c i just remeber a friend of mines name is Xander and we call him Xan. I hope this helps.

Thank you!
And for Fuego, why yes, yes it does. And La Fiamma is The Flame in Italian
I have a penchant for playing with fire- literaly, I do fire performance. Though I got the nickname long bfore I started that.

Eh, one's sun signnin astrology is not a hard dictate of whether you prefer its element or not.
I'm guessing that by Brigid, you're referrring to Brigid of the Forge? (She's much more complex than Just "Brigid the Celtic Fire Goddess"

My magical name has always been Ice Witch since I've been thirteen. Witch, because I'm a wiccan and Ice because I love Ice skatting and that's when I started doing it. Everyone calls me Ice Witch, even in real life, except for my family.
