just wondering what your opinions are on this.
there's a difference between being nice and being PC. Being pc about making iron clad rules about being nice. Just because I want to understand people for what they profess to believe rather than what their book says they should believe does not make me hamby pamby or politically correct. I will not be forced to respect people I do not believe are worthy of it. This is why I don't make assumptions about what people believe based on merely what they call themselves.

i heard about that cartoon thing
in fact a dutch political leader here is making an anti Muslim movie that has the Muslim community in tight knickers, he even got "slapped on the hand" by our prime minister and the queen, but he still follows through with it because they can't really stop him because of the freedom of speech thing. maybe you heard about that guy his name is Geert Wilders. (my prediction is that he won't live to see the year change, a dutch columnist got killed because of his opinions of the extreme muslim community)
and that forum expierence you had was it on this forum? if so than i probably missed it.

No, it wasn't here.Theo Van Gogh got killed for his film, didn't he? Shameful. My experience was on a forum that wasn't what it seemed to be,at first. It is a shambolic place, with agendas and mind games all over it.lol.Name changes every five minutes, meant it got confusing too.Moderators reading and CENSORING members PMs,moderators leaving the board and then returning under an alias: with admin/owner's permission too.Odd,eh?It has LHP boards but moderators were decrying those posting in them, if the member was speaking in favour of such paths, or explaining techniques. That wasn't the half of it either.I intervened in a situation,a young member was being 'played' with by others - both members and mods,he was mentally unstable, at the time,[I don't like that term but it's his own description?] seeking help, a bit naive, I think.I won't say what exactly went on, but he believed he was being 'psychically'attacked. He was.I found out.A member let it slip,on another forum we both use, with the justification: "it's for his own good.We are 'helping' him."They weren't though, it was getting worse. He left there, but it went on.He posted desperately in our other forum,[ lots of those from the dodgy one are members in the other one too,] I PM'd him and gave him advice and support.I kept records from the dodgy forum, so could prove to him, what was really said and done.I'm sneaky like that. After a while it became apparent to these idiots, someone had been undoing their 'work'.Veiled threats were made.OH JEEZ, LOLZZZZZ.So ........I outed myself: with a 'bring it' post - Woe betide the fool who f**** with me, or by default, my family....etc."
In this post was a challenge, Odinically speaking, of course.THEY ACTUALLY TRIED.It was a lot of fun playing with them. Now, they stay the Hel away from us both,oh and the other lad they tried with,later.He,he.Bad ole me.

It WAS a madhouse.Thet, you'd be surprised If I named names, you'll know of some of them.Ooh err.It does go on.Be aware people, not everyone online is as they claim.I kept a 'sinister' e mail sent by the owner after I asked to shut my account. It was childish, threatening and stupid.Never leave written evidence behind, if you're gonna 'play 'folks:- handy hint.lol.This forum 'moves' every few months, too.The owner always says: "we've been hacked, so we're shutting down and you should re register here - [ insert address for new forum]" Running from something? eh.I think so.
Written record?
Ha! Do you wanna know something more disturbing than that?
A few years ago, I was working in a Therapists office which was in a large complex of offices, the larger portion of which (over half of the building) was a civilian contractor for the U.S. Defense dept.
One day, while I was taking a smoke break (on the patio) I saw a man there, I hadn't seen before. We got to talking and it turned out that the contractor was shutting down and he was an FBI agent who was tidying up the details...etc...I brought up the subject of mass surveillance and what the FBI's take on that was...surprisingly, shockingly even, he told me that in Texas, there are these huge underground warehouses full of storage devices which monitor every single email, and every phone call in the United States.
Last year, I think I was, a friend of mine casually emailed me that I possibly shouldn't be so free with my political and religious opinions online as "they might be watching"
I related the above story to him and told him...man...it doesn't matter, they're watching anyway, forget about paranoia, there's no point. It's like worrying that there is dirt in the air or that "unknown persons" have a hand in controlling what the government does....we all know it's happening, there's nothing we can do about it.
So, all this to say, a written record? pshhhhh...whatever...if my opinions are contrary to modern thought, the current political climate or mass vote...it doesn't matter, they've got it all on record anyway.
And you're in Scotland? There might be leeway , but something like 95% of the internet at very least passes through an American server at some point along it's journey...
(how I learned to stop worrying about the government and pretend it's not happening)

yea, and the one who killed him was from the town acrros the pond from me, hell i even saw him every now and then, and his columns were darn good too.
i second teth
i'll try to never get on your bad side, but i can't promise anything
i wonder how the fbi would be able to pick up all the e-mails that are sent out, i mean i don't doubt they do intercept allot of them, but they can't hack into all servers without being discovered right? i know j edgar hoover had a very large personal agenda with the feds as his personal army of intelligence (none of this has been proven as fact but all the circumstantial evidence is there)
and i know what you mean by being sneaky like that, i do the same thing with a select group of persons too, sometime's i can't believe how vulnurable they make themselves online with all the info i can find just by google-ing.
