Is anyone else an Empath?

i think i might be because i've recently developed a knack at knowing how others around me are feeling

the only problem is that their moods seem to rub off onto me . . . very confusing in crowds

I come gifted with the incredible talent of empathy as well.
And while there are times, where I do wish to pratice it, because it would feel completely werid to the other people who are always watching you, I have had wanted to strengthen mine.

See, I was told by a friend that I was empathic. Because I could listen to someone, and all their problems, and then when they were done talking--I would give my take on whatever we were talking about.

Ever since my friend pointed it out to me, I've slowly been trying to pratice it-- and I'll admit, It's really hard. Its not like something you learn over night. This takes time, pateince, pratice, and lots of focus.

There are times, when I can look at someone, and just by how I look at them, and how their body languge comes off I can tell what/how that person acts like. And, wheter or not if they are good or a bad person.

I like many of you here am also an empath. Sometimes though I can also sense animals emotions, well only dogs and fish so far..Story with the fish was my friends 2 year old had one and I came to visit and without seeing it I felt it was sick and dying and sure enough it passed. But I find being an empath to be a huuuge pain. I haven't quiet figured out why this "gift" exists. Honestly I HATE it. It makes a mess of my days on so many occasions.My dad has had and is still having a very hard life and even though he pretends I feel it and sometimes start crying uncontrollably. If anyone finds a CURE let me know lol.. I've been trying to shield myself but I must not be doing it right. I was able to shield myself from attacks in my dreams..but not this.

I've wondered this a lot about myself as well....
I've always been able to tell how someone feels just by looking at them.. I always thought it was because people wear their emotions on their sleeves so much sometimes.

But there's something else too, my mom.
The only person I know who touches me when their upset, or trying to get a point across, and just talking, is my mom.

Now I love my mom to bits, but I absolutely cannot stand when she touches me when she's emotional. She hates when I pull away, especially since I never used to until maybe a couple years ago..I couldn't stand it anymore. Every time she touched me, I felt a charge in my whole body, like a lightning strike of uncomfortable ....feelings. Or something!! I can never explain it, and she just gives me a hurt look and I hate making her feel that way

But I just can't help the feeling I get physically, it's unbearable sometimes. It's quick, if I pull away.
I don't know if everyone makes me feel this way, because I don't know anyone who is as touchy as she is.

Any thoughts?? ...
