Waterglyph is right,
We all take part in each of the four elements, but some are more prodominant that others in your birth chart. For isntance, I have a stellium (3 or more planets/heavenly bodies in one sign or house) in Libra, the ruler of air. But I also have a stellium in the 4th House that is aquarius/pisces--a little more air, but mostly water in this watery house. As you may know, I have done many charts for people and through these experience3s I have come to see that sometimes people are drawn to the element that they have the least of in their chart. For isntance, I only have one or two bodies in earth signs. I have always been drawn to earthly people as it is what I lack. However, that does not make my element earth. I am Air/Water through and through. I have wanted to say this for a while as I think it is erroneous to reduce yourself to one particular element. Some elements hold more sway than others, 'tis true, but it is rare to see a chart where a person has all of their planetary energies caught up in one element. Pkus, every house has its correpnding element, so whether you like it or not, all the elements are in your chart.
Here's a brief list of astrological correpsondences for those of you who have not studied this:
FIRE---Aries, Leo, Sagittarius--1st House, 5th House, 9th House, Tarot-Wands, cards-clubs
Keywords: Creativity, Energy, Passion, Intuition, Zeal, Ego, Travel, Reaching the top, Status, Recognition, Shining, the divine "I am"
AIR--Libra, Aquairius, Gemini--3rd House, 7th House, 11th House, Tarot-Swords, cards-Spades.
Keywords: Intellect, Reason, Communication, Logic, Discernment, Detachment, Ideas, Sharing, in-between us, Relationship, Writing, Talking, Science, Wisdom, Cool, Dispassionate, Breath, Rising above the material and emotional, the divine "I think/I know".
EARTH--Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo--2nd House, 6th House, 10th House, Tarot-pentacles or discs (depending on the deck), cards-diamonds
Keywords: Practical, Goals, Sensual, Growth, Service, Health, Plain, Slow, Steady, Materialistic, Hard, Sticking to Plans, Everydayness, Disciplne, Restriction, can be dull, can be unimaginative, can be uninspired, Planner, Secure, Average, Lusty, Miser, "with-it,"Aware, Achievement, Builder, the divine "I do."
WATER--Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces--4th House, 8th House, 12th House, Tarot-Cups (or cauldrons), cards-Hearts
Keywords: Emotional, Sensitive, Psychic, Intuitive (**although it is different than a fiery intuition--and even air is intuitive in an intellectual way, earth is intuitive in a practical, builiding way), Flow, Relationship, No bounds, Lazy, Escapist, Psychology, Feel, Vision, Imagination, Poetry, Music, Wishy-Washy, the Divine "I feel."
All elements have their strenghts and weaknesses which is why we partake of all of them. Which ones fit you the most?
Blessings,
bsp

Yes, Hedge, you have alot of fire in you, plus earth and air, so the silly little template above can be disregarded. I did not mean to cause confusion. That is my entire point about the elements: they are CON- FUSED--fused together so all of the descriptions can fit parts of every person, as we are all made up of all the elements, plus spirit.
Plus, to our guest, I am sorry but Aquarius is most assuredly an AIR sign. Hence Aqu-AIR-ius. It represents the cycles of evaporation drawing water up into the sky and then pouring them down to the earth. That is why it is the sign of the water-bearer--it brings water from the Heavens, from the Sky--hence, from the AIR. This is why Aquarians are known for their emotional detachment--they can control the water (i.e. keep the emotions up in the rational and airy realm) Some elements are a little more pronounced in people's charts, but we do have all of them in us.
Enjoy all of your water, earth, air and fire!
Blessings,
bsp

I'm a Fire sign (Leo) but I feel that my element is Water. My name has strong associations with the sea, whether you look at the original Pagan root or the Christianised change. My family name is also associated with water. I do have some Fire in me... but Water is what I love.
Come, heart, where hill is heaped upon hill:
For there the mystical brotherhood
Of sun and moon and hollow and wood
And river and stream work out their will.

Well natural witch_88,
I am not sure what you mean by "controling" nature. But, if you do perform rituals like "cloudbusting" it may have something to do with the element of air. Nevertheless, air is usually depcited as being objective, detached from emotions, and intellectual. I suppose that this can assist you in dealing with earth elements, but surely this "control" that you speak of needs to be addressed. I am interested in what you mean by this, so please explain what it is that you do in terms of harnessing the elements.
Blessings,
bsp
