concept of humans as energy - seeking guidance

I have very vague memories of watching a documentary with a friend (a long time ago) which I think was loosely themed around alchemy and majik. It also included references to things like hypnotism and trances. I found it hard to follow at the time as it made references to so many things outside of my realm of familiarity.
Something they touched on, for a brief moment resonated heavily with me - there was the suggestion that humans are energy and that energy doesn't just cease to be so there is a valid path to explore what happens to the energy when a person dies.
This idea echoes feelings I have long felt. I have not been sure how to undertake research on this concept as my own idea of it is so vague. I am hoping if there is any literature or belief system around this subject someone here can point me to it. Many thanks.

First off. This is science... Matter is just condensed energy....energy is neither created or desroyed.....
anyways this view is part of the system I have adopted for use.
Where do you want to take it?

there are exceptions to this... it cannot be destroyed through chemical means... nuclear is another story.

Reincarnation....
I think the person's "energy" is their spirit. I believe that the spirit dies to be born and is born to die....

Thank you all for your replies. It is interesting and a wonderful thing that everyone has different ideas... or different answers for the same questions. I like that this can broaden an individual's horizons very quickly. These replies have given me some hints on more things to look at and I'm really appreciative of that.

Hi shadows - I'm new around the forum and to witchcraft but the idea of humans as energy is what is drawing me to witchcraft. I find things like qigong, yoga, and meditations make me aware of the physical energy surrounding me and part of me.
I was also very interested in LOA as it relates to our thoughts (energy) creating matter in the external world.
