Mandalas?

While I love mandalas, especially from an artistic point of view, I don't find them helpful for meditation. They're very colorful and abstract, nice as art, but too busy.
Thangkas I find a little more useful, once the significance of the figures and symbols being represented is understood. I've had some soothing meditations with thangkas.
But I got a lot going on in my mind any given moment, anyway, so for the most part I prefer not to use images at all when I meditate. Less is more to me.
You're only on the right track if it feels right to you, personally. Try a mandala or two and see what happens. They may be more meaningful if you draw and color them yourself. Keep experimenting.
