Mandalas?

Postby Ilikedeadpeople » Sat Aug 01, 2009 5:54 pm

Does anyone color mandalas to help meditate? I'm a new psychic, saw some in the bookstore and got curious. I do remember how relaxing coloring was when I was a kid, am I on the right track? Any input is welcome. Thanks in advance.

While I love mandalas, especially from an artistic point of view, I don't find them helpful for meditation. They're very colorful and abstract, nice as art, but too busy.

Thangkas I find a little more useful, once the significance of the figures and symbols being represented is understood. I've had some soothing meditations with thangkas.

But I got a lot going on in my mind any given moment, anyway, so for the most part I prefer not to use images at all when I meditate. Less is more to me.

You're only on the right track if it feels right to you, personally. Try a mandala or two and see what happens. They may be more meaningful if you draw and color them yourself. Keep experimenting.
