My question is: How exactly does one use Stones in in any magical efforts?

I have been practicing for about 6 months now and I cannot seem to find the answer to this question. I understand how to charge the stones as well as cleanse them, but once they are "ready for magical use" what can I do...?

Just a thought...MidnightWolf, if you feel up to it, how about "teaching a class" (starting a thread) in the Witchcraft School forum about using crystals in magick. That would be awesome. There may or may not be a thread there already (I didn't check before writing this), but even so, your perspective would add to the body of knowledge there. ..if you feel up to it. Thanks.

You can:

Make gem essences
Use the crystals to mark out your magick circle
Use them for healing
Put them on a chain and dowse
Use them to enhance your environment
Use them for psychic protection and more

And yes...if I get time I will write something in Witchcraft School...

Oh I get it, so if we inject a little humor into our posts it's removed, if we have a different opinion to that of the moderators that's removed also.

With regard to your suggestion to dowse the stones; what do you mean by this? Forgive me, I am not familiar…

And you also said “and more”… Can you please give me some more suggestions?

I know with herbs there are certain ways in which they can be used for magical efforts, for example: Infusion, pondering, seeding, growing, carrying, and bringing…

But Stones…

If you could just give me a few more SPECIFIC examples I would greatly appreciate it!

I'm sure others here can provide better instruction on performing this divination, so I would like to touch on the metaphysics behind it;


Space, time, mass and energy originate from chaos / abyss and through the agency of the aether are moved into multiple forms of existence.

Mass exists as a space-time curvature, extending with a gradual diminishing force into infinity, we call this gravity and all events, especially having to do with the human mind, send ripples through all creation.

Divination is a method of intercepting and interpreting these ripples. In order to be received, these ripples need to resonate in the receiver and not be drowned out by mental noise, clutter or become suppressed.

One of the best methods of obtaining symbolic intermediate results are those which are just below the threshold of being deliberate, but above the threshold of being random.

Shamanistic methods such as casting stones (sticks, bones etc) are simply the best.

Ok...you can put a stone on the end of a chain...and then use it as pendulum for divination or healing. You can also put a mixture of various types of stones into a bag and pick one out at random...a bit like runes.

Err...the possibilities are endless. They are so versatile...they can really be used for anything. I use them for healing mostly, but they do play a role in my magickal workings.
