Is Anything Real Anyways?

I have spent the last year reading all kinds of books from spirituality to fairly intense research on quantum theory and I have come to the conclusion that nothing is real. It's all a projection.

I would interested in hearing about what people from your side of the spiritual path think of this. I have been on christian and moslem message boards and although I found most of the people on these groups very nice and more willing to talk about the subject than I expected them to, it all came back to them being servants of God.

Personally I tend to think we are all "God" in one form or another. Be interested in hearing your comments on this. Thanks.

Hi RootSoup!

Personally I don't think it matters whether there is "God and Others" or we are all "God" in one form or another; perhaps part of The Whole or Godhood. Perhaps they are both correct; that we are all part of God and yet separate from it and are trying to reunite with it. "Lost" from the Godhood so-to-speak.

We spend our lives trying to find our place in the Universe and where we fit into it. We look outward for the answer to the question of who we are and why we're here. My thought is that if we are entities inhabiting bodies but otherwise inhabit alternate planes of existence after Death (and before Birth) then I suspect we are looking in the wrong direction for those answers. The Earth and Universe can perhaps be viewed as a projection or background upon which we interact, or act out. The form of consciousness we experience on the physical plane isn't like a projector in a movie theater but rather more of a holographic display. A field effect.

But all that, while very interesting in a technical and philosophical sense, is unimportant to me. Don't get me wrong; I deeply Love and respect the things that comprise the physical universe because I believe it was created instead of 'just happened'; but I also believe in a spiritual sense it is simply backdrop or scenery for the real meat-and-potatoes of our lives, or 'movie': To better ourselves. Yes, we draw things from the physical universe but these things are aides and influences, not answers. They provide clues and inspiration.

So, in a sense, Pagan, Wiccan, Christian, and all other faiths do serve God (or associative deity) because serving God is nothing more than serving yourself. i.e. Finding your own potential as a spiritual being and living up to it.

Well, that's my thoughts in a nut shell. Blessings to you!

One Walker. :D

A projection of what? Before I can formulate a response I'd appreciate you explaining exactly what you mean by "real" and "projection". I'll be happy to consider a response after. Thanks.

I think you are coming from the lines that say we are all energy vibrating at different rates, and from this vibrating energy we perceive objects and beings.... :D (but are they real?)
I have studied physics in the past to gain qualifications to work in radiology.

Our energy comes from the source of energy which some may call God.
Therefore we are part of God.

Thoughts too are energy which can be molded to become in our perception reality.
That is why there is the saying, "Be careful what you wish for, you may get your wish"

A lot of us have wishes and dreams without realising that which we wish for has many facets
and many ways of manifesting we may have not taken into account,
therefore we do not enjoy the rewards of our wishes.

Hello RootSoup

Imagine you sitting on a ledge of an enormous cliff that overlooks a great valley with mountains in the distance. The clarity of the air and the absence of pollution make those mountains and everything that surrounds you crystal clear and majestic. You can feel the wind going through every fiber of our being as well as our surroundings, contributing to the magic that you already are part of.

We can both agree that this is a thought projection with the ability to bring mental images into existence. Yet, it is all it is. A mental projection created for a specific reason. That reason is to set a starting point of a path that has the potentiality to be walked instead of just visualized. How complex the initial vision is depends on the level of cognitive ability that we all poses. This is how concepts are born. This is also the reason for us being on top of all chains in this planet. We excel and beat every other species for our evolutionary cognitive ability that allows us to experience the world that we live in on more than one level. Exactly this fact makes us an engine that questions everything and our sole purpose is to formulate an answer that satisfies our curiosity. With each answer that we get we elevate and add to our data base of accomplishments and understandings.

The imagery that I presented to you is the core and starting point for this hunger of ours. It is also the point where we realize that we are part of a complexity beyond our comprehension. It is infinity for us. That’s where we get creative and try to capture that infinity and make it part of us. How is this important and relevant to your observation you might ask? The minute you find a place just like I described to you and stand there in person you enter a matrix that allows you to experience for yourself that infinity. This automatically makes it reality and part of our personal lore/database of accomplishments. It also puts you in the spot where the majority of concepts that you encounter today were created and developed or are in the process of being unfolded to reveal the complexities embedded within.

Experience is what defines reality and creates base for flawless logic to be born as well as room for infinity to be captured to a degree. It is also our way of system checking and accepting realities experienced by other individuals just like yourselves walking different paths. This is also our weakness because in order to really accept a reality we have to somehow to be brought to a point where we have to be part of that reality in order to be registered as real. That’s why Spirituality, God, Magic, Aliens, and questions concerning the universe are always kept at hands length. Because they are realities with infinity attached to it. Until we get the chance to be presented with a logical system that is flawless and builds a path that will lead us to personally experiencing them they will always be just labels of systems hovering outside our reach.

Again we stand at the edge of that cliff looking at infinity. Trying to capture it and make it our own. The question is not if they exist but how can we bring yourselves to experience them. Meditation is the first step. A more random step is Near Death Experiences. I have had two of those. They proved to me that out there exist another universe. Out of body experiences, telepathy and God are just extensions to that universe. Meditation gives you the chance to prove on your our own that we have a soul. This is the heart/core of spirituality. Until you walk the path on our own all those concepts will just be out of reach and someone else’s lore of experience.
Every time I stand on that cliff ledge I become one with it by exploring it to the max. Hope I provided some insight and stepping stones for you. Don’t forget that this is my point of view, where I am the Master and on my way to dwell within it forever. Godlike, because I am alone. Mortal because there is so much more to perfect on and discover.

I would have to agree.

I would say that was your first mistake..... reading what others have to say on the subject. I find that I grow more from the inside out when I stop listening to what every one has to say and started listening to my own inner voice / spirit.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes. :)

There is a way to find out that everything physical is not real any more than a night time dream is real - ie, it is real that you are dreaming, but the dream itself is not real.

The way you find this out without using logic or thinking, but by "seeing", is by watching and noticing your thoughts and thought patterns. This watching and noticing itself is rather difficult because a thought and what is real is the same thing to everyone that cannot "see" illusion and thus reality.

Since what you think and what is real is the same to you, there is no way to "break in" to see the difference.

Here's a clue that you can use if you wish a more believable rendition to what I am saying than that it is true simply because I say so. Simply try to find one thought of yours that you believe not to be true - to be false - to be unreal. If you can find one, just one will prove it not to be true that your thoughts are what is real to you. It will prove to you that your thoguths do not equal your reality. If you cannot find one, that should show you that every thought you have is what is real. To you.

Now, if you follow this through, you will see that the whole physical universe is an illusion. If you notice that every sense you have is "seen", "felt", "heard", "tasted", etc., in your brain, that should show you that the whole physcial universe is contained within the confines of your skull - in your brain.

Everything you believe cannot be true. It's impossible. What "is" and what you think "is" cannot be the same thing. The name of something cvannot be the thing itself.

Now, is anything real? Well, yes. But it is not anything physical. For instance, your experience of "being" of existing, is real. Your thoughts, your feelings, are real.
