This may sound really off the wall but based on what you described regarding life in your former home it sounds like you were living around some kind of vortex (the diversity and intensity of the phenomenon).
That's totally what I was going to say, One Walker ....first thing that came to my mind was ley line of some sort, though. It's similar.
Life on the "Line"
Basically, it sounds like you live on or adjacent to what amounts to a bus depot of the spiritual realm, hahaha. That may explain why you "haven't been feeling like yourself" lately, as I noticed you wrote in another post.
Sage sticks and positive affirmations, as much as I'm an active proponent of both, will not help you when you live on or near a vortex. As with living next to an airport or railroad tracks, your choices are to either move, or get used to the disruptions and learn to live with them. It's funny --I grew up near an air force base. I got used to planes landing and taking off 24/7. When I moved away, it was "too quiet" which made me anxious and I had a hard time sleeping! So I guess one could get used to anything.
In an episode of Lisa Williams show, the psychic medium from England, she counseled a family who lived on a ley line. They had all manner of spirits roaming around and passing through their house and the garage, constantly. But the family decided to stay there, with the philosophy that if the spirits didn't mind them there, they didn't mind the spirits passing through the house either. So they were all at peace, albeit a "noisy" peace. Personally, I could do without living near a bus depot, a physical one or a spiritual one, lol! But that's just me.
Healthiness is Boring
I realize it's more exciting and magical to chant some incantation, or concoct some kind of recipe for a spell, etc., and that taking care of one's health is boring and not what one perceives that he or she "signed up for" when deciding to do witchcraft or other metaphysical work. The TV shows make it all look so kewl! But as long as one is still an incarnate being, dwelling in a physical body, one has to play by the body's rules. No getting around that. And let's face it, healthiness is boring.
In the Ask Elisa forum is a post called "Find Balance." You might want to read through that and do an assessment of how you're taking care of your body. That will also affect how you feel, and it never ceases to amaze me how people do not connect their health habits with how they feel every day. There's a chronic "disconnect" regarding this in Western culture I noticed. Don't fall victim to that. If you're going to be a witch, be a healthy witch, 'cause if you're a healthy witch, you'll be a strong witch. Nothing sadder than a person who undertakes metaphysical work, but their health is so poor and causing them such anxiety, that they jump at every little spirit they encounter. Anyway, sometimes making the slightest change, like eating better or getting more sleep, will make a tremendous difference. You'll have less anxiety and more
energy and optimism.
They'll Leave Their Baggage at Your Bus Depot
...because if you decide to stay in that house, you will need energy and optimism to survive. Some spirits come with a lot of energetic baggage (unresolved issues) and you will "empath" those emotions and take them on, which is what I suspect has been going on with you. For example you've suddenly become scared of your father's spirit. I don't think it's the dirty laundry you've discovered --honestly what ghost, or living person for that matter,
doesn't have what they perceive of as dirty laundry? I think your defenses are down and it's causing you anxiety. You have to be strong and healthy to let that stuff slide off you, like water on a duck's back. You can't get mixed up in the emotional drama of the discarnate beings you encounter.
Get Back to Basics
It sounds like the universe is challenging you to get back into practicing. When we stop, for whatever reason, your energy signature changes, and things like to prey upon people who fall upon weak or hard times.
It does sound that way. Once you set up a certain energy signature, the natural forces around you (and I count spirit people to be natural as much as anything else is) expect that you're still operating at that signature. When you let yourself go, whether through neglect of good energy practices, or just letting your physical health go, you compromise yourself and you are more sensitive to things than you normally would be.
You and your husband should revisit how to
ground, center and shield yourselves, if you're not doing that regularly now. Teach the children these skills, as well. They're basic skills for any metaphysical work. Before you start full board on any kind of spell work, get a
good grasp on these basic skills first.
Should You Stay or Should You Go?
So, at least keeping your physical health up, as well as practicing very basic "psychic hygiene," will help you and your family withstand the energetic disruptions that come with living on or near an energy vortex. But I guess ultimately you and your family must decide if you want to stay there or not indefinitely. The family that I mention above enjoyed the excitement, since the mom, I believe, grew up in a metaphysical household. I guess for her the presence of the variety of spirits was what the sound of the planes landing and taking off were for me: "normal" in our own odd little ways, what we are accustomed to. But if this kind of excitement isn't your cup of tea, you might consider a more quiet place to live.
