schools of magic

Postby Fluestern » Fri Mar 12, 2010 12:36 pm

Hi everyone, I'm currently reading about wicca. I'm about done with a couple of books. Although I've read them I don't feel like I have a real idea of what Wicca is. It seems like a mish mash of a lot of different things; I don't mean that in a bad way. Anyway, I have a question. I've heard of other types of magic, specifically, from the Temple of Set. Is there a big difference between their style of magic and that practiced by a Wicca? I don't really get the whole left hand right hand magic stuff. Can someone explain? Is this type of magic something that can't be added or adapted to fit with Wicca? Thanks!

"Black" magic cannot be adapted to Wicca because of the "Harm None" in the Wiccan Rede. A lot of magic is considered "dark" by some wiccans, including money spells, love spells..because Karma will always get you in the eyes of Wiccans. I can't speak for Wiccans myself as I only study Wicca for about 5 months before deciding I preferred to be just Pagan. Also, a "true" Wiccan follows the 161 laws placed on them by Gardner himself.

Also, I believe left hand takes and the right hand gives...

Reading a little

I've read a little about the different orders. The only one that sounded really terrible was the order of the vampyres. Their description was they work with energy and that their focus was for the strong (I'm assuming they meant themselves) taking power from the weak. That sounds really horrible and makes me angry to think anyone would think that sort of thing is ok. Most of the other orders of Set just mentioned magic. The most unusual thing they discussed was immortality; nothing "bad" stood out to me.

My fiance is a Psychic Vampire and only takes energy when it is okay, after he asks...he is a very sweet man. Well, Wiccan follow the "Harm None" and "Black" magic harms people...as for the other orders, who have you read about?

The left hand path puts the self above the divine. The right hand puts the divine above the self. Christianity and Wicca are both on the right hand path while Satanism and Demonolatry is on the left hand path. It does not make them evil, its all a matter of how you look at things. Most Satanists and Demonolators usually don't believe in Karma or the Threefold Law. You should try to inform yourself about the left hand paths. They are really interesting. :) When I began to study them, I started to question my own faith and beliefs. I no longer consider myself Wiccan, just spiritual. I may or may not reclaim that religion, but not until I am completely sure. Set is not considered an evil god, he is just the dark side of Osiris. When I say dark, I don't mean evil, but in the aspects of polarity. It is fine to incorporate some of the left hand path stuff into Wicca because its not evil. Just look into it. :)

Have you ever been on the Magicka School site? They have a forum that you can apply for. Its not available to all because they have a few requirements. I think you need to be 18 or older and have more than 100 posts. The information in there is pretty good.

Love and Light,

Blessed Be.
