Your body in bright light glows
And I fall off you, from head to toes
I stalk you; following you through your day
Walking, running, and dancing with you all the way
I mimic you; whatever you do I repeat
But all you do for me is walk on my feet
To you I am something dark and below
Cold, heartless, even shallow
Perhaps that is why towards me you never gaze
Or how I darken as you soak in the sun’s rays
What will happen when the lights go out
And suddenly there is only blackness about
No one will be around
There will be not a sound
At the spot I usually lie you will stare
And for the first time I won’t be there
That is where I’ll leave you to roam
There in the dark, all alone.
