Trouble remembering my dreams.

Postby TaylorS » Sun Apr 10, 2011 8:57 pm

It seems like I very rarely remember my dreams, and when I do remember them it is only a bit or piece of it. The main exception being a reoccurring nightmare that I had for about a year after my friend was raped, but that is a topic for a Past Lives thread, not here.

I take Paxil, an SSRI, for OCD and panic attacks. I also sleep with my radio tuned to the classical music station at a low volume to drown out my mild tinnitus (rinning in my ears). Could those be interfering with remembering my dreams?

What I find is that if the moment I wake up I remember only one word and take a pen and paper and write down that one word other words will come flooding in, write each word and everything else that you remember, then later look at it again and see what jogs your memory.
After doing this for a while your memory should become stronger and you should be able to remember more.

Things around you don't have to be the cause, it can be that when you wake up and are confronted with all these things ringing through your senses that your sleepy mind might have a bit of a culture shock making the memories a bit blurry but I think with this excersize this should go down some.

Hope it helps
Bless
