DISCUSSION: How Do You Make Your BoS Special?

Do you make your BoS' all decorative and amazing? Personally I just write it all out like you would in a school book because, yes, it doesn't look as attractive, but that way you can record more information. And even though I'm probably capable of making an artistic book, it doesn't matter really because it is mostly for personal reference. If you can maybe some of you could even show me some pics of your book(s)!

Blessed be! )O(

Merry Met.

Personally I keep two BOSs. I have a rough one for me to right ideas down and to mess up in and my final one.

My final one is a normal sized sketch book that is plain black. I used only pen in it and I don't let anyone else hand it. The front of it has my charts and colors and symbols. The blessing of course is first. You can always had things so you don't really have to worry too much. Putting down spells that you had done or planning to do is a good idea as well. I don't have many spells but I do have a lot of research. Holidays are what I'm focusing on and history. Don't look up things that you aren't interested in and will never use. God and Goddess research/encounters should be put in it as well.

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask ^^

Blessed Be. Blue.

My BoS is a jumble of information in the beginning (correspondences, really), and then the middle is basic spells, the end being rituals for Sabbats and Esbats. Nothing special yet (I lost all of my other BoS') but I am planning on this being a rough draft and making a nice pretty one and organising what is in the rough draft. If your just starting out, I suggest using a 3 ring binder that you can organise at will and add more pages to, cause you would be amazed with how fast a nice one can get filled up!

I see working on my BOS to be very relaxing, I paint in it and draw. I cut out pictures from newspapers and make little collages in them, whenever I write a spell I will write it in using calligraphy etc. I first write so I have all the space for my writing and then over time fill it in with things I collect. I also use it to dry flowers and leaves and pettles and stick those in. The outside it pretty plain because nobody needs to know what it is except me. ^^

Acryllic works because it dries faster, oils only work if you have thick parchment pages so it doesn't stay wet to long, same goes for water based paints. Poster paint works really well also.
You can also use acryllic pencils and add a little bit of water with a tiny brush so you don't have to use a lot of it. :)

Nice. I never thought about adding art to my BOS. I thought it was just to hold your spells rituals and information you dont want to forget

It can hold experiences, how (and if) the spell worked, etc. Its basically for what witchy/pagan things you would like to add. Sometimes I use it for a dream journal, too.

Well it is but I find and most Wiccans I know agree with me, that working on the BOS is just another religious practice, and like with everything we do (rituals, blessings, prayer) it should to be filled with a happy creative spirit that makes you enjoy it as much as possible. ^^

I use my BoS to record my spells as well as all of my basic correspondances. In the back, I have a full section dedicated to experiences that occur during my works. i believe that you should fill everything with your energy because then you can sometimes feel what you have written like you are feeling as you were when you wrote it. So do what you want with it. Try to personalize it to your own personality.

Blessed be you :D

so when i work on my BoS. i write my stuff on notebook paper then add it to my BoS. So my BoS is next to me and my cat everytime comes over and lays or sits on it. Has anyone else have that happen to them. I mean i pick her up and take her off it and she comes right back and lays on it.

my cat does the same thing. everytime i try to write in my bos he climbs on me and moves my hand away from the page. when im done he would lay on my bos and dont move unless i move him or my brothers calls him for dinner. lol. it happens alot now that hes bigger. i thinks cats have magical senses.

I love using those 3-ring binders that zip up and hold everything in, I've got three now !!!
My first one, tan with a mesh pocket in front-inside the pocket are two bumper stickers.
One sticker came from the powwow says "Dancing to the beat of a different drum !"
the other I had printed up at the library and it's become mu motto !
"We're all here because we're not all there !" (me too!)
This one has metaphysical properties of gemstones; the meanings (not done yet) of a set
of Runes-the designs are of my own doing, what the wood wanted on it is what went on it !
(the wood only needs the final touch-up sanding, it's the words that need finishing)
coraspondence (sp?) of coarse; fire magick, water magick, and air magick (no earth magick yet)
Spells I have done and the outcome; herbal info.
The blue one has spekks I have not done yet, most are for doing when I go camping; I can be
free to do a ritual without worrying about being watched. We know alot of people down there
and alot know I'm a witch. It also has bits of info from here there and everywhere ! The red one
is holding the page protectors not being used yet.
And now the cat LOL !!!
When I work on my BOSs they and the info are scattered all over the bed, here comes Charlie...
I move things around so he has place to lay down...does he use it ? I think not ! He lays where
I'm working at the moment. If I'm reading in my chair he comes up between me and the book.
When I'm deciphering my dream I have all five dream books on the bed and the bed tray set up
to write on and that's where Charlie is !
