Ok ok, stop me if you've heard this one...

Postby graveghoul » Sun Nov 02, 2014 7:35 pm

So far i've chosen (or rather they've chosen me) Gaia and Hecate as my Matron Goddesses. But, alas, no God in sight. Would it constitute as "unbalanced" to have a Triple Goddess and another Goddess and my matrons? They feel balanced but i dont wanna go about things uneven. Should i try to call out to a God to find me? I have tried but i've gotten no signs yet. Might you all have experienced this particular situation? I guess maybe i may be a deep rooted Dianic type?

If you need a male figure, one will present himself. I suspect that you already have one, but he hasn't made himself known to you yet. I've worked with Bast and Sekhmet for years, but just this summer Loki made his presence known, followed by Anubis. Just relax and let things happen in their own time.

Personally, I don't believe balance is as simple as worshiping a god and goddess pair - balance comes in many different forms for different people. Sometimes when it comes to balance the attributes of the deities can be more important than if they are shown as male or female. (Also, honestly, sometimes deities don't care about our expectations of 'balance,' they might have other reasons for showing up!)

There are plenty of people who only work with a goddess, or only a god, or three goddesses and one god, or whatever other combination you can think of. If you feel called to these two goddesses, and you don't feel there's an issue, that's what really matters. It's only sometimes an issue if you follow a tradition where there is a strict emphasis on a goddess-god pair, but if you're solitary, or not belonging to such a tradition, there's really no right or wrong. (On a similar note, Dianic Wicca/witchcraft is also a specific sort of tradition, not just a term for someone who only worships goddesses.)

And, as was said, sometimes you never know who'll come or go over time... When I first came to paganism I only ever connected with gods, which shifted over the years, and now I work only with goddesses. Not through choosing to ignore gods, but because that's just how things have ended up at this point in time. :)

I've always worked with the Lord and Lady as a pair. It was in 2012 that I asked if They wanted me to work with Them by any specific names and only the Lady answered. I worked with Them in general as just the Lord and Lady, and with Her specifically as Athena. I asked Him a couple times if there was a specific aspect He wanted me to work with, and He kept telling me that it wasn't necessary at the time. Now, two years later, He has started coming to me as Odin and we're working on the "getting to know you" phase.
You can call on Him if you wish. Ask Him something like "Is there a specific aspect you would like me to call upon?" They certainly respond. If He feels that you're not ready, that's OK. The world doesn't include a perfect male to female ratio, so I think it's nature they we may at times work with more goddesses than gods and vice versa.
