Hello all. I just did a search in the local library catalogue, and I got a list of all the books on wicca that are available to me. If you recognize any of the titles or authors, please comment so I can get a better idea of which book(s) would be the best, esp. for me as a beginner. Thanks!

I strongly reccommend number 10 (The Scott Cunningham book) and book 5 (the Vivianne Crowley book), im currently reading through The Wicca Bible, and so far have found it to be mediorce, this is jsut my feeling towards and does not reflect everyone else
All of lifes little problems can be solved by beating the buggers on the head with a broom.
Re: Help Needed (Books on Wicca)
I've heard some good things about this one. It's not all that old, so I haven't read it, however.#1 Wicca for Beginners: Fundamentals of Philosophy and Practice by Thea Sabin
A fiction book. Might be mildly amusing to read for a teen, but no actual Wicca in it.#8 Witches' Night Out by Silver RavenWolf
I don't recommend this book. Out of all the books that Silver has done, this is by far the most insulting and ethically unsound of her "Wicca" guides.#9 Teen Witch: Wicca for a New Generation by Silver RavenWolf
Not a bad book for an introduction into Neo-Wicca.#10 Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham
Not really worth the paper it's printed on, although there's not rampant misinformation. It just doesn't say much of anything.#11 The Wicca Spellbook by Gerina Dunwich
I havent had the chance to read a Scott Cunningham book but what i hear of him is he is usaly highly spoken of. I also recoment looking and see if your library has a herb section ( probly in the flowers). I whould also recoment looking for something on essintial oils but i dontknow where that whould be located at in a librart. I have found that thes are also a wonderful topic to read on. Its great your library has that many books! mine has...2 i think....witch are by silver reven wolf...or what evere her name is...

Exploring the Pagan Path is excellant ..each chapter is written by excellant Authors..Starhawk,Raven Grimassi,Grey Cat,Oz just to name a few..The book Wicca and Witchcraft for Dummies..The Elements of Ritual is a good book ..It will take you inside the Ritual and disect it to help you understand and maybe even write your own..I'm currrently reading it ..Circle of Isis is very good if you go for Egyptian Mythology ..The Jesus Mysteries is great..very interesting..I've not finished it yet as I read 5 books at a time so it takes me a while to finish a book ..lol..Embrasing the Moon is a great book..There is a Triple Goddess Chant in there that is an Awesome Circle casting chant..Wicca a year and a Day will teach you everything one day at a time..I have the book but haven't actually started it ..Evolutionary Witchcraft is good as well if you are interested in the Feri tradition of Wicca..Anything on Crystals Gems and Stones ..Llewelyn books ..Their Calenders and date books to help you to start understanding the Moon Phases..Anything on Astrology is always good..Herbalism books..Scott Cunningham has a great book called Incense Oils and Brews I believe..I loaned that one to a friend so I may have the name backwords..He also wrote a book called The Magickal Household..Thats an excellent book as well..Ok so now that I've given you a years worth of reading..lol guess I better stop there..Good Luck

I have Scott Cunningham's herbalism guide and that's very good...I've heard lots of good things about him. ^^
Silver RavenWolf is difficult. I have her book of protection spells, which are nice in that they are simple and can be modified or used as models for a newbie to spellcraft such as myself. Philosophically, I disagree with much to most of what she says.
And I second the vote for Edain McCoy, "If You Want to Be a Witch" was the first book I picked up on the topic.

The thunder crashed and storms of blinding rain poured down from heaven. Iris, great Juno’s envoy, rainbow-clad, gathered the waters and refilled the clouds
Honestly, I would avoid DJ Conway. Abut as much as I would avoid Silver Ravenwolf. Her books read like bad juvenile fantasy fiction, they're that outlandish. Her "history" is just effed up.I would look for Authors such as Scott Cunningham,Raymond Buckland,Gerald Gardener,Vivianne and Alestar Crowley,Edain Mccoy is good if you are into Celtic mythology,Anything on Egytian mythology Greek Mythology and Roman Mythology,Maiden mother and Crone by DJ Conway is good. If you're into Greek mythology, i'd go to the original sources...Hesiod, Homer, etc (No, they're not very difficult to ready at all if you get a good translation. Also, any of Karl Kerenyi's books on Greek mythology is going to be very good.
