Patrons/Matrons

I'm interested in how people view the Patron/Matron relationship.

I've come through a few paths that insist that you should have a deity or two to whom you're particularly dedicated. I can understand how some monists might have a problem with this, but usually people say that there's a particular mask that they're drawn to and work best with.

Are devotions a part of your path? Do you resonnate with one or two images in particular? Have these changed recently?

I think dualism is an illusion, so I personally reject a patron/matron split. Any division is a illusion really, as far as I'm concerned. But a singular deity is also off for me. I tend to follow what I feel is a more universal and less anthropomorphic path where this whole universe, this whole reality is the entitity. I try not to focus on aspects of it, but instead try and see it as a whole, of which I am a part.

My particular tradition used to have a requirement of sorts for establishing a partron deity or two while working on the first level of study, but never split patron/matron.

That was done away with before I came on the scene, which was nearly two years ago now.

My tradition, by the way, is hard polytheistic. The gods are individuals. period.

I am a follower of the Greek pantheon. In my personal practice, I primarily worship Apollo, Hestia, Selene, Terpsichore and Polyhymnia
