'What Freedom Is To Me'

a poem i had to write for school.
i wanted it to be something different and approach it from a different angle.
instead of writing what i see freedom as, or what i would like it be or how i see it in my mind etc etc, i decided to right what freedom really is and wether we have it or not, that we think we have it when we dont ...
Freedom is something we all speak of,
Represented by the wings of a dove.
Restrained by the stereotypes the media sets,
Being who we are by being what we’re not is what everyone regrets.
Freedom is something all within our grasp,
Fear and oppression hide us under its mask.
Suppressing us from acting out,
Hiding inside fills our next generation with doubt.
Lack of communication takes us further from our desires,
Worshipping our icons remodel us into liars.
Senseless, smart, ugly, fair,
Constant pressure makes us care.
To break these restraints,
We must make complaints.
Open us to opportunities,
More to the world than everyone sees.
Faced by life’s mysteries,
Influenced by past histories.
Walking blindly through the worlds wonders,
Not seeing nature’s teachings, making blunders.
To be able to breathe without accusations,
To start again, a revelation.
Revealing to others what we believe in
Seeing our concepts as anything but a sin
Freedom is something to each quite unique,
All our life we may seek.
To find it may be an eternal task,
But when you find it, make it last.
