Everything Under the Moon

I didn't know where else to put this and I hope it's in the right place. =]
But, I just had to share this because it completely blows me away how unexpected it was.
Somehow me and my mother got into a talk about religion and well, I tentatively brought up Wicca. And for once, she let me speak my part and I explained what it was to her, read her some things off of the internet and showed her that some of the things she believed in existed in Wicca as well and then I told her that this is the religion I want to practice, that I want to be a part of. Unexpectedly, she didn't yell at me, didn't get angry, or even impatient. She saw my side of it and...accepted it. =)
And a few hours ago she went out and bought me Scott Cunningham's book for the solitary practitioner or summit and then also, without a request from me, put a book on order, also by him. =)
I just...I'm speechless. Never once has she done something like this...I was completely blown away by it all.

I feel so much better now that she knows. She also told me she doesn't care what my stepfather has to say about it because she has the say, not him. And mind you, my stepdad's worse than my mom when it comes to controversial issues...he's racist and he's homophobic and of course he believes his religion is the only thing that's true...>.> *sigh*
But...wow. My mom. Just. Wow. Lol.

i'm glad to know this worked out for you. it's seems so much harder when we get resistance from those closest to us. your mom sounds like a pretty cool person. what a pleasant surprise!

Strange though. She always used to disapprove. But now she doesn't. lol.

That's wonderful news. it always great to know that you have people in your life who aprove of your beliefs.

=] Yeah. It feels so much better now that I don't have to hide it. It lifted a great weight off of my shoulders. Now I feel free and in all honesty that feeling didn't leave me all day.

That's amazing, I am very happy for you. I only recently told my mom too. Although I am grown with a family of my own I still wan't to know that my own family approves or at least understands and accepts my choices. My parents were both okay with whatever I want as long as it makes me happy. Un-condition love kicks butt, LOL.

I think its great to have understanding I know with my own kids its tough sometimes but all in all my son (13 yrs old) told me one day that what we had (as a relationship) something special his other friends parents didnt have and that was true communication. He knows I'm a person who has allot of understanding and is open to it no matter what it is. Its a great thing to have with your kids.

I'm glad your mother was so accepting.
