You know how black candles are hard to find if you don't have an occult shop in town, especially when your town is a little too...country?

Well, for my first spell (which has worked AMAZINGLY by the way... 4 days and it keeps getting stronger), I needed a black candle. I looked everywhere, but to no avail, I cound not find any.

I was about to give up hope, until I finally found a whole bunch of them. I bought three in a course of two days. Also with this, I found brown and gold candles as well.

Now, you are all probably wondering, "Where is this magical place in your not-so-magical town?"

Hallmark. In a Hallmark store. Seriously...

All I can say is, "Only in America."

Just thought I would share this with you all.

The key to being a "thrifty witch" is that anything mundane draws most of its roots in early pagan traditions and can be used for a magickal purpose. Brooms bought from Walmart, and Candles from Hallmark, they seems average to everyone else, but they take on a magickal purpose when we use them. Also anything can be used for magick, doesn't matter where it came from, so go ahead and buy your candles from Hallmark, I'm not tottally sure, but I don't think the Goddess/ (What ever divinity you follow) will mind terribly, they just appreciate the tribute.

I know right? It's very hard to find brown, gold, and black candles, yet hallmark has all three.

What is your small stock? I only have three black candles; one of them has already been used, and another one is going to be used up in a spell soon.
