Meditation & Falling A Sleep

Hello!
I've been meditating the past few months. I find myself falling a sleep a lot of the time. Is this normal? I would like to sustain some consciousness while meditating. I've tried using Apophyllite and now Clear Quartz Crystal Ball.
With the Clear Quartz Crystal Ball I'm able to maintain some consciousness for awhile, white drifting into a different state of mind. But I must admit I do get to a point where if I do not see a vision in the crystal. My eye lids get heavy and I will fall to sleep. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remain consciousness. Thank You

Hey Kindo,

There are a couple of things that might be helpful. If you tend to meditate right before you go to bed then you are more likely to fall asleep. Also what position are you meditating in? If you are laying down, then sitting up or even standing will help you stay awake.

I too was having trouble staying awake but I decided to focus my meditation on staying relaxed and worry free, but awake at the same time. It took alot of effort, but it worked! Actually last night was the first time I saw more than just the back of my eyelids. :P

I hope this helped a little. Keep practicing!

Thanks Water Centaur
I'm usually sitting up when I meditate, but it is before bed. It's one of the times that the house is silent. Everyone is in bed. But I will work on picking a different time of day to meditate as well. Congratulations on your vision during meditation. It really makes you feel like your making progress.
