Re: Questions of worship
The initiatory Wiccan mysteries focus on a (specific) God and a Goddess pair. But it is not necessary to always work within a God/Goddess pair framework. That will depend on how your personal practice develops. You might decide to start with Brigid, and go from there. As far as 'mixing' pantheons go...

Re: Winged Beings
Hypnos, Morpheus, Thanatos, and the Oneiroi (dream spirits). Eros (Cupid) and the Erotes, spirits of love and sex, also all had wings. The Greek gods of the four winds also had wings, as did Iris, Arke, Hermes, and probably quite a few others who aren't coming to mind. Sirens were also winged spirit...

Re: Time Change & Spellcasting
The ancient Greeks (or some of them anyway, and probably some other people) used to divide day and night into 12 hours each. So, yeah, this meant the length of an hour would change through the year. Longer night, those 12 hours would be longer. Shorter night, shorter. Anyway, those are the 'houses' ...

Re: Your path?
How'd everyone decide on their path? I would say it was half exploration and trial and error... many years of experimenting, finding what works for me, what makes sense, what aligns with my morality, that sort of thing - and half being undeniably called to a particular group of deities and spirit w...

Re: What do you do when you find an unfavourable spell?
You have your values, others have theirs. Curses and other "unfavorable" spells have existed for thousands upon thousands of years. We have many examples of it through history in curse tablets, and the like. They're not going away any time soon. If I come across a spell I disagree with fro...

Re: What are methods to enter a trans-like state?
There are many, and one may use a combination of two or more methods, as well, so it can become very personal. Dance, spinning, drumming, chanting, or something else rhythmic are very, very common over the world. Sensory deprivation is another frequently used - often various types of masks that can ...

Re: Can you feel the year changing?
If I were back home, I'd probably be feeling autumn coming on. But I'm not, and it was 103F today so... yeah, not so much. Looking at weather in the 90s for the next 10 days. (Whereas, at home, they're looking at 70s/60s.) Doesn't start feeling like autumn until mid-late October, to me - but hey, gu...

Re: Changing Deities
Why choose? There are a lot of deities, each with their own specialties and domains. Why not get several statuettes and honor whichever ones are most connected with a particular spell or ritual? I suppose it depends on how you view deity, and what your goals are. Ancient pagans did worship many dei...

Re: Changing Deities
I always write "Ra" when making a Solar candle, it's so powerful. Where/how did you find that Thoth was with the Moon and Hermes with the Earth? Thoth is a lunar deity, one of several lunar gods the Egyptian pantheon had. You can occasionally see him wearing his moon boat headdress. (Iah ...

Re: Scenting your candles.
Scent is a major trigger for most humans. The scent alone can transport you into a proper ritual headspace, can bring up memories and thoughts of something you wish to invoke, or can even bring up bad memories as the case may be. Scent can be a very powerful tool in witchcraft and ritual. But, if yo...

Re: Help identifying mine.
From the fog walked a woman with silver hair and brown and white robes. There were additional men behind her who wore purely brown robes. I am very nature based and if I had to classify myself, at the risk of also limiting myself, I would I am Druidic. However, I cannot seem to identify any god/god...

Re: Specific foods reserved for the gods and spirits? Questi
Sounds like her own personal opinion. There's no real historical basis for these foods being reserved for gods. Alcohol and bread have been consumed by humans for thousands of years. You get sick when you eat gluten because you have celiacs, but various kinds of breads have been a staple in many, ma...

Re: Deities of Art? Specifically Visual
There was Tekhne, a minor deity of art, craft, technical skill. Although you won't find much more info than that on her. Not specifically painting, but I think it would fall under that. Hephaistos is another, not specifically painting, but of crafts, sculpture, that sort of thing, might be considere...

Re: Queer wicca/witchraft?
You can easily argue the sun is more feminine, but then run into difficulties -one set of analogies you've made clash with another. And that's really what happens when you start to look into multiple different cultures. The sun is feminine in a lot of classical pantheons. Chinese, Baltic, Japanese,...
