Can Meditation Stop This?

Postby Love_For_All » Mon Jan 18, 2010 10:33 pm

I have recurrent dreams where I am being chased by dark figures who want to hurt me. A couple of times, I have gotten out of bed in my sleep to try and escape.

Try sleeping with some holly leaves under your pillow. Holly is great for male protection. You could also stop running and see what the dark figures want, confront them.

If it is a recurring dream you need to find its meaning. This can be magickal or purely psychological.

I would imagine you are avoiding something in waking life? A big bill or fine? Avoiding a friend or family member? Something disturbing you experienced and havent thought about enough, instead confining it to the back of your mind?

If so then you do need to confront the figures, but not in the dream, you need to confront them in waking life. Recurring dreams are a way for the brain to tell you something and they will continue until you get the message!

Any type of spirits who try to communicate send their messages in thought forms. Yes, it is psychological. I've you get any other activity, its best to burn sage, or sweet-smelling incense, frankincense & mrryth, something.

But, be sure to tell in a blunt, respectable way to leave you home and convince them that they are dead. Spirits don't manifest in physical form. Ghost do. Convince them: You are not longer welcomes here in my home and say, go towards (into) the light.

Another thing to do (opt) is to put down sea salt in corners, floors in a counter clock wise position. I've heard for imagining yourself in a white light before you proceed, for protection.

Of course that's for anyone who is experiencing such phenomena...

Another poster suggested to stop running to see what these figures want. I would most certainly meditate on this, and ask the Divine for guidance.

If you're really feeling threatened, have you tried a smudging ritual?

If you're getting up and running away, it sounds like you could be having night terrors. Read this website for more info:

Yes, of course meditation can stop this. Meditation is a proven technique to encourage and promote relaxation. The more relaxed you are as you get ready for bed the better your chances of falling into a deep, restful sleep cycle. Find a focus point for your meditation. This can be a candle, a mantra, a stone, or something as simple as the sound of your own breathing.

I realize this is an old post and Love for All already found a satisfactory answer, but I will give this a shot by sharing my story. There are always others who might be having a similar experience. Maybe it can help?

If it were an isolated incident, I'd think that maybe you were just having a bad day or had a temporary health problem. It concerns me that this is a recurring dream. Part of me agrees with StarWitch that it could be a night terror. A few of my relatives were having them during times when they were having prolonged health problems.

Another part of me agrees that perhaps you are indeed trying to avoid something. Years ago I had similar experiences with the "Shadow Man." I knew I was in very good physical health. My emotional well-being was not so good. The Shadow Man started appearing during a time when I was getting old enough to question a lot of things, including the very church teachings that I had been indoctrinated with since a very young age. It was serious taboo to even think these questions, so I was keeping them buried deep, but it was causing emotional problems.

When I finally moved out and began researching these things on my own, Shadow Man stopped looking so shadowy and scary for me. In fact, it was around the same time when I was starting exercises in lucid dreaming and I began to see one regular visitor in particular, who had the same tall skinny build as that sillouette I was seeing. He had a very friendly face and seemed amused by something every time I saw him. I have not seen him in years and quite frankly I miss him. I think he was some sort of a transition guide for me during those times. He may still be around, maybe my spirit guide who is just aloof for now. However, I have not had issues with scary shadow men ever since. In my case, it turned out there was nothing to fear.

Now sometimes I used to get sleep paralysis problems as well. There was a different feeling in those and what I just described. Meditation did help. I used music (mostly by Jeffrey Thompson) and headphones to help me go into these deep relaxations. I seriously need to get back on track with those and practice again.
