basicaly the 12 olympians and the latin gods are the same thing with different names
zeus-jupiter
poseidon-neptune etc etc
thanx for the extra info:) and yeah Hades is one of the greatest gods but he never had a throne on olympus so he is not one of the 12 OF OLYMPUS! i think i mentioned that

To be fair about that, the greeks could rarely agree on who the most important gods were in general, so don't think modern confusion is all that new

Actually, Hera is thought to have originally been a marriage and childbirth goddess- who later in history (more patriarchal times) was turned into the "conniving jealous wife". Makes ya think, doesnt it?

Well, I talked to her last night, I needed to for a friend. She is still the goddess of marriage. The coniving jealous wife thing is a part of marriage at times though, isn't it?

Haha arguably yes. But there's also a trend in Ancient Greek religion of shifting to a male-centered view. I would consider this is a reflection of that.

I'm not sure if I entirely agree. The shift I'm talking about takes place in a society that managed to somewhat standardize the religion. The current pope's decrees or whatever theyre callled create a definitive shift in Catholicism... maybe not an individual's faith, but in the religion itself the shift is very real.
