Interplay of Male and Female, God and Goddess

Postby Victoria Mnemosyne » Fri Jul 30, 2010 1:58 pm

Many people I know choose only to worship the Goddess.
There are also those who mention multiple Gods or Goddesses from different ancient religions (they might use a spell with Isis mentioned, Hecate called on, Poseidon mentioned, etc)
Then again, some people worship the Goddess and Her Consort with the male as equal, and some with the male as subordinate.

How do you address the issue of dieties, and whats the reasoning or principle behind it??

I dont believe in either, thats how i deal with it!

But at the end of the day there are male and female energies in the world. You call them the god and goddess, i call them energy. No difference. Both are equal and necessary.

Don't know if your question applies to me, because I don't worship a single goddess/god/both. So that's not an issue to me. :P Personally I'm a hard polytheist. I worship a whole pantheon more or less, and there are both gods and goddesses present. Most of my attention goes to a god, though, and to three spirits.

But I wouldn't say there's any special reason why I do it that way. I believe in my gods, so I worship them. That one certain god is most important to me in quite a few ways, so I worship him the most. Those three spirits I mentioned are also important to me personally, so I honor them as well.

I don't mind the Dianic Witches (they only worship the Goddess), as these people were usually greatly persecuted by Christians. So it's understandable to be turned of to anything Christian-like. Mind you, its the Christians that took the images of OUR Gods to create their demons and angels, and their God for that matter.

I choose to worship a Goddess and God, but I only pay respects to them at the Sabbats and Esbats. I don't include them in every spell that I do, I feel more comfortable that way. Mind you, I'm not the type for intracate ritual, I like to keep things simple and to the point.

I believe, though, that the people that worship the entire pantenon are the people that are closest to the old ways. The people of old believed in all of these dieties, as all had their own specific niche in life, death and the creation thereof. These people still chose Matrons and Patrons, but respected all equally.

Both God and Goddess are equal, though at the moment I am working more with female energies. WIthout one you can not have the other.

For me I chose to connect with the god and the goddess. Mainly I feel a connection to Brighid and to Cernunnos.

I don't worship the gods a lot as such, instead I try to feel connected to them through nature, meditation and raising energy. I also see god and goddess in everything around me as their pure energies.

The reason behind this is that I think it's important to have balance, I also believe that the god and goddess are separate and the same so relating more to one too much can cause imbalance.

Balance for me is important in my practice. Because of this I also look for both light and dark Gods and Goddess. As there is light and dark in Nature.

Sometimes I go through phases where I will want to feel more connected to the male energy of the God and other times the female energy.
