Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
Heathenism has its own concepts similar to spirit guardians and animals, FenrisComes.
Hamingja is similar to the guardian spirit (as are the Dsir)
Fylgja are more akin to the animal spirit.

The Gods we worship write their names on our faces; be sure of that. A person will worship something, have no doubt about that. We may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts, but it will out. That which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts will determine our lives, and our character. Therefore, it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshipping we are becoming.

Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
Hm. interesting, I never looked up the beliefs on this within the Norse pantheon.
Thank you,It is quite valuable.
Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
I worship the moon as it is.
but I've researched a lot of deities and have tendencies towards native,Norse and Celtic pantheons and more recently thru further research African voodoo related deities.
a lot of it has to do with my celt background and west coast Haida surroundings.
any deities with moon, canine, crow, raven, rat nightime trickster or chaos aspects, connections totally draw me in.
so much so that whilst meditating on some incense smoke yrs ago I had an experience that led me to adopt hel as my goto gal when the moon hides it's face. yes I do ritual and spell work during the dark moon time.
I never understood why this aspect of the moon should have been avoided.

Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
Well, Norse-wise there wouldn't be any problem working under a dark moon as they weren't moon worshippers/workers. The sun and moon, strangely enough, were just ways to mark time and the passings of seasons. (Yes, there's a whole mythology of Sol and Mani being forced into it but it's really neither here no there when considering the point.)
And as far as Wicca/neo-paganism goes, there aren't any restrictions about the dark moon. It's just a different phase, and usually good for internal workings and meditations.
Is it some sort of taboo in Voo-doo or Native American traditions?

Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
I haven't met anyone that refuses to practice on the dark moon....
But I also worship Cerridwen, Welsh equivalent of Hekate. I accept the Goddess as the Goddess of all things, good and bad.

Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
I've read various sites and books that say the dark moon is like Christian Sunday,a day of rest or that doing work under the black of the dark moon is somehow a bad thing or the energy istn strong.
I think it's just a different energy, just like all the other phases of the moon.
long before I found info online and in book or had any names to put to it I found myself tying different colored feathers to tree branches with wishes put to them and things like that, then I found out there was all this specific worship ways that others had been doing forever,so I thought well if it's worked for them for all this time it must be powerful stuff so I looked it all up and "what are your secrets how do you use the energy, what's worked for you guys?" kinda thing. so what I have now is sort of an amalgamation of things I found suitable to add to what I was already doing or heading for, also over time tailored to what feels right for me. I actual call upon hati garm/managarm skoll and fenris/r as my four directions guardians if/when I cast a circle.
but were getting off topic.

Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
Hmm I've never read or heard that working under a dark moon is a bad thing. I have read that its quite useful for specific types of workings.
This is what I am, here is where I remove my mask.

that's three just for starters.
I don't agree with it and I don't get it.

Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
Why in the Hel are you calling upon Skoll and Fenris? Especially within a framework that doesn't exist for them?

Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
what do you mean by framework?
some people call on angel guardians and others call on the different winds with names for them.
I wanted some wolfy back up when I did bigger spell workings.
what about it doesn't agree with you?

Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
Heh. Calling on Fenris is like calling on the nuclear warhead that will annhilate earth. He/It isn't a guardian of anything.
By framework, I mean that the elementals or corners of Earth that you see present in neo-paganism weren't part of the mytholgoy or practice of germanic paganism. Fenris is bound in one spot and tied in fetters. So he couldn't guard anything if he wanted to (which he doesn't). Wolves are present in other sources in heathenism; Geri and Freki that walk with Odin, there was a wolf warrior band (they dressed in pelts), wolf is often used as a kenning (wolf-joint for wrist as an example), and it's also used to describe outlaws (not the romantic version of outlaws, either.) Wolves aren't the issue here, it's those particular beings. Garm, Skoll, Hati, Fenrir...not worshippable beings.
Edit: Just want to add that, they aren't literally wolves. As I said above, wolf is a kenning for outlaw, utgards. When they say Skoll is the wolf that will devour Sol, what they mean is that Skoll is the utgard force, the force against order and life and justice. The consensus of what a good and productive system of Universal laws is the inningart. So, Skoll isn't literally a wolf, you see?

Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
I see what your saying.
is their energies not even worth pulling from?
garm is still hel's guardian demon doggy though yes?
I was using garm for north.
I use the element associations because the idea made sense to me.
fenrir never did seem to be an appropriate fit.
too big for the position if that makes sense.
I had hati for west and skoll for east.
it was the representations/symbolism I was looking at,but when you mention them as representing outlaws I never knew about that.
but it actual seems to be a still okay fit. a lot of my work has to do with utilizing misunderstood aspects.
I didn't start out that way it just seemed to go that way and I began to recogonize it.
I am in no way trying to trample anyones ways or beliefs by my way of collecting the bits and peices of them that speak to me.
also I think maybe this conversation should continue in a separate place.
we are derailing the original topic and i hadn't meant to do that.

Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
ok I will start one in the elements section.
Re: Which Pantheon are you drawn to?
My Deity is Cernnunnos first and foremost, but I will occasionally call upon others from different pantheons for guidance. I do wonder if it is odd for a woman to have such a strong connection to a God and no real connection to any Goddesses?
