I'd like to become pagan -maybe Wiccan- Where do I start? How do I adjust? I need extra help since I go to catholic school.

I'm in a religion that is nothing like wicca so I'll just say pagan is all about finding your right path. Look online or in books about different gods, different religions, different paths...

Read a book/webpage

Ask questions. Get answers

Find certain beliefs within pagansim that interest you and search into them further.
The Gods we worship write their names on our faces; be sure of that. A person will worship something, have no doubt about that. We may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts, but it will out. That which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts will determine our lives, and our character. Therefore, it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshipping we are becoming.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

As believers in the folk-religion we are studying, we seek after mysteries that expand the scope of our gods and our understanding of them, not reductionist theories that reduce them to manageable and socially productive "functions".

Best advice I can think of is to KEEP researching :) There are as many 'flavors' of pagans as there are pagans. Keep searching until you find what resonates with you. Ask questions, search websites, raid your library and used bookstores, ask more questions, find an herbal/pagan shop, ask more questions, research research research. You may choose one path now and change it completely or modify it as time goes by :) Good luck.

Most deff research. A theory hasit great creator energy is 1 ball to say. We must charterise as female o male with attrabutes, part of human understanding and reason. God/dess are in a since rays of that 1 orb. Each ray holds diff atrabutes hince a diff face and name =a diff god/dess. Remember just a theory but the beauty with "our path" u get to blend theorys and mold them. Were not as rigid as a stick as other religions. Then to god/dess to pick. Look at the atributes and pick on for what y need in time ull get favorites and then somehow ur needs tend to go more streamlined along with the faves. If u look at it from Jung or Froid the idol is the tip of ur iceberg giving u insight into ur deep deep iceberg that most never see. Get a book on goddesses and gods one that encompasses most of them so u can cont and compare. The books are usually titled as such. My kids have one titled /oddesses. .. Easy enough so. Good luck hapy hunting. Harm none and love to all

That's not entirely true. There are several pagan paths that are reconstructionists- they stick to one path, the earlier beliefs of that path, and don't engage in mixing and matching. And some of them can be rigid.

Some of my family are strict Druid others Cherokee others Taoist and then me .Well I trained under strict beliefs as a cuandera but after having children and hearing what their innervoice called for I"had to blend". i empart knowledge of my trainings but help them to seek their own path and they helped broaden my path. so is MY life.

I don't think your beliefs or your theories are wrong, they just aren't all that there is. And that's also important for a newbie to know. This type of discussion, where we share different viewpoints, is beneficial to someone looking to get information. For instance, I don't go for soft polytheism, in which I believe that all gods are just a face of a supeme one. I'm a hard polytheist and believe there are multiple gods that are all individual and aren't encompassed by a 'goddess umbrella'.

FYI: The general opinion is that Silver Ravenwolf is one of the worst books for a person to read.

edited: because there's a difference between 'you're' and 'your' and I keep screwing them up in my zest for posting.

Silver Ravenwolf is widely considered to be a very very basic beginner's author and a suspicious one at that. Much of her work is 'fluffy' and filled with very poor advice. Reader beware.

Yep thats her LOL oh my memory of names is for poop it went in the diper jeani about 11 years ago smiley_dance you know the OP was asking about just getting started and coming from a religion where ull burn in hell and have all these big beast deamons ready to pounce is scarey. Sometimes the soft fluffy stuff that gradually helps you step out of ur comfort zone is needed, and that paticular book has yes a fluffy author but the OP (catholic) surely knows about angels. Then can use guardian angel meditation to find a sacred soul place.
