i dont consider the visitation of any animal to be a bad omen for the most part. Some exceptions to that would be vultures/buzards or any bird of prey in a group of 3, 5, or 7 to be circling over an area where their is no prey or for them to be perched outside your home and folllow you around or remain in the same group in the same placed for 3 days or better. Also this same combination would hold true to me if it were Ravens or Crows.

A pidgeon to me is not a bad omen but a positive one. Look at the nature of pidgeons they congregate in areas of plenty. A place where their needs are easily met. To me this could be a sign of prosperity and excess to come in the near future.

IT could also just mean a pidgeon fell down the fireplace.

I wasnt actualy freaking out that the pigeon meant we were going to die lol, there are just 2 things i heard as a child that stuck with me. A bird coming in your house, and seeing the ghost of an animal are supposed to be very bad. not even sure where i read that though.

I just had a really bad week last week (un-related to pigeons LOL) and waking up to that was really the last straw.

I do like the idea of excess to come! could seriously do with that after this current time

also i heard that birds can be the spirits of passed loved ones re-visiting you. but i really dont think the loved one we recently lost would return as a pigeon, she wouldnt stand for that! HAHA!

We once got a bird in my grandmother's house. She freaked saying we had to get it out the same way it came in or somene would die. She was distraught till we found the window that it came in and shooed it out. I imagine it's so rare some meaning has been attached to it.

to my knowledge the bird in the house meaning death is only if its sparrow

and to ILLBE YOUR A SMART ASS If people took the time to listen to nature we'd understand things better.

It depends on your culture. I was brought up with a Celtic Romany culture where nature omens are taken very seriously. Birds are omens of death including a pigeon. HOWEVER, that death is much like getting the Death card in Tarot it means the end of a situation rather than an actual death. It can be a good or a bad thing. You said you've had a bad week, well the pigeon could be a sign that the bad will end soon.

p.s it could just be that there are alot of crectures near your house. Are you near a water source? Do you have a pond in the garden? Both Rats and pigeons stay near water sources.

My soul is awakened, my spirit is soaring. And carried aloft on the wings of the breeze. For above and around me the wild wind is roaring. Arousing to rapture the earth and the seas.
