Animal Totem?

I've always been interested in know my Animal Totem. I believe that's what you call it, now that I have typed it out it seems wrong, Oh well.
How do you figure your animal totem out?
I thought possibly tell yourself before you go to bed about dreaming of your animal totem, although I have tried that more than once and I usually don't dream, or don't remember!
Any thoughts?

My spirit animals are wolves and ravens. I have 3 spirit wolves that follow me everywhere. One is a black wolf named Moonshadow Hecate's Gift. The other two are twin silver wolves named Gem and Ni. I don't have any spirit ravens following me but I do like them. I was sent the 3 woves by Hecate, and I have always really had an affinity for wolves and canines in general. Chances are, your spirit animal is one that you really have an affinity for.
