I use a tea made with lavender and chamomile and lemon balm. I got it at the supermarket with the herbal teas. It's marketed for soothing an angry stomach, but it does wonders for cramps (but also makes me sleepy). Its made by traditional medicinals.

And river and stream work out their will.

Oh, and I've found raspberry leaf tea the week before my period helps. As does calcium.

I don't recommend doing this, but you should know that birth control pills make your periods lighter and make you cramp a lot less (or not at all). Many people take BC pills for that reason. But there are side effects, like weight gain, and long term effect as well. So don't take it as a first resort. Try all the natural stuff first. There are lots of good tips on how to ease periods. You should search Google.com for "ease cramps" to see what good tips you can find. Good luck.

Just so you are aware (in case you ever actually need birth control), throwing up on birth control is pretty rare. I've never known anyone that had that side effect. Of course, it's different for everyone, but you'd have to try it yourself to know what side effects you might have. I don't have any side effects from taking it. They also have low-dosage birth control pills that have hardly any side effects. If you use them for birth control though, you have to take them at exactly the same time every day or they might fail.
