Starting to have Doubts of wicca?
Starting to have Doubts of wicca?
Well I live in a closed-minded family of wicca, I told them im wiccan they think im evil and I didn't care was open and strong about it but suddenly im feeling weak and doubltful why?
Re: Starting to have Doubts of wicca?
Have you tried shielding yourself? I didn't know what that was for the longest time and I'm very sensitive to other's energies. I'm like a sponge.
You may be taking up their negative energy on the issue and allowing it to let you lose hope and conviction. Where I live, Wicca is really misunderstood and looked down on so it's unfair and difficult to feel proud or honest about my religion, but in my opinion, spirituality and "salvation", or inner peace, are between you, and That Which Is...others only become upset when they lack inner peace and, well, misery loves company. Light a candle and pray for them that they may find peace. Your weakness will fade when you find compassion for them and realize they're in no better a position than yourself.
Sorry for being long winded. I hope that helps, at least. C:

Yeah I have sheidled myself.. Its just my parents are restricting everything I believe in so its like I can't do anything other then.. Research.. research and research over and over
Re: Starting to have Doubts of wicca?
Being Wiccan does require reasearch in order to full grasp and understand its meaning. Try mediating to release and deflect those negative energies around you. Open your heart chakra to allow positive and fulfillment to enter. I know it is your family and they should come first but if they do their own research and not be so closed minded they would see Wicca is far from evil. Feeling weak and doubtful is natural after being shunned try to deflect that negative or it will get the best of you. Best wishes and Blessed Be.

When you come out of the broom closet to people, they like to test your resolve. Its a sensitive time for you and them. They are projecting their fears (and the whole "wicca is evil" thing) onto you and waiting for you to break. They expect this to be a phase. You have to stay strong. You already know what you believe in.

Thank you guys
But the thing is just because of one picture, in wikipedia it ruined my whole life, and I know its stupid showing them about Wicca in Wikipedia, but the picture was of a horned god, and they said it was devlish when honestly I could agree too, I knew that wasn't our horned god, well anyway everyone imagnes the god and goddess differently, they also saw an athame which im guessing they thought it was for "blood" sacrifises which honestly does seem like it but it dosent, Here is the info on the horned god and a picture that scared them:

Re: Starting to have Doubts of wicca?
I once saw a... I guess it could be called a large-sized pamphlet on Wicca that was designed for non-Wiccans to be able to read and understand the beliefs of their friends/family. I know they exist, it might be worth trying to track one of those down? The one I saw had no pictures on it, it was very brief and precise. Kind of a surface-level user friendly explanation.
I wish I knew where the one I saw had come from so I could direct you to it. Maybe google will help solve that mystery.
(it looked something like this : http://paganwiccan.about.com/od/wiccaan ... Basics.htm )
Other than that, it's your path and not theirs. They have no right to tell you what to believe in, and their trying to change your innermost thoughts is manipulation. Draw your boundaries, if they aren't open to discussing your beliefs in a respectful and understanding way then you have absolutely no obligation to explain the details to them. Just make sure you allow yourself to explore new facets of your beliefs as you read and understand that they are likely to evolve as time goes on.

Re: Starting to have Doubts of wicca?
There is a book out there called When some one you love is Wiccan which you may want to try and track down for them and for yourself. My understanding of that book is that is helps those who have encountered difficulties like you have.
As for the horned God image that you found, that is the Baphomet which is a deity in some forms of Satanism, but not a devil. There is a difference.
You may want to try Cerunnos That is the image most often associated with the Horned God of Wicca. The name is Cerunnos.

Along with what loona is saying another one that is known as a "Horned God" is Pan.
Here is some information on him: http://www.theoi.com/Georgikos/Pan.html
I know it is hard to be burdened like you are with your family and all but nothing should keep you away in what you believe in. For instance, my 13 year old whom I was educating about Wicca, Paganism etc has now been told by her Christian step mother that what i do and practice is evil. My daughter knows it is not but does not want to cause conflict so we just choose to simply not talk religion. However, I do bring her to church and join in Christian activities with her at times for her support in her believe of Christianity. It is called Co-Existing and it is sad that many cannot do this. It is one of many things our world needs.

I would also try to NOT explain what Wicca IS, but rather what it MEANS to you. Let them know the little things that drew you into that path, and why it resonates with you.

Re: Starting to have Doubts of wicca?
It might be because they're your family. I've noticed a trend when people come out from the closet/broom closet/etc. and aren't accepted unconditionally that begin to doubt. I think it's because we've been raised by our parents with (usually) love and kindness and when you show a part of who you are/wish to be and they dislike it they turn on you. And having people turn on you whom you love and care for and are supposed to love and care for you hurts even more then if a stranger did it. It's closer to home.Well I live in a closed-minded family of wicca, I told them im wiccan they think im evil and I didn't care was open and strong about it but suddenly im feeling weak and doubltful why?
It's at these times that it's important to both re-evaluate and strengthen your resolve. How important is this to you? If you left your path, how much would it hurt verses the doubt you feel now? If you see your path is a key part of you, that this choice fills your being then strengthen your resolve to stick to it.
It's hard when those you love do not accept. Sometimes it can be helpful because they may make you realize you're simply attracted to (insert activity here) because it's new and exciting (I know I've done that a few times). But a lot of times, it shows you how important it is to you and that you must stay strong.
