Someone in Your Dreams You Don't Want

Postby Wolf-Tigress » Thu Mar 19, 2015 11:53 am

I keep having multiple dreams featuring a person I don't want to think about any more. How do I get her to stay out of my dreams?
Through the spilling ice, and glowing fire,
I have the heart of the wolf, and the strength of a tiger.

This may not be the answer that you are looking for, but the reason that person may be appearing in your dream is because she has an important message for you (possibly from your subconscious). I find that the more that I try to repress a certain thought during my wakeful hours, the more likely that it is to reappear during my dreams, because it's an issue that I haven't dealt with. It's your brain's way of saying, "Hey, you need to take care of this, there's something you still need to do to resolve this."

So it may be fruitful not to try to repress this person further from your mind, but to take the opportunity to confront her and see if you can lay the issue to rest. And by confront her, I don't mean meeting her in person, necessarily. Usually this person represents something else in your brain. Dreaming of an ex, for instance, doesn't necessarily mean you're in love with them. It can be a sign that there is an element in that relationship you still yearn for and should seek to regain in your current life. So resolving the issue doesn't mean "get back together with your ex", but, "How can I fulfill my need for ___ in my current relationships?" And once you've solved that issue, your brain won't need to keep drudging up the image of that person in your dreams and reminding you of the problem.

A little while ago, I kept on having recurring nightmares where I am driving a car, but something was always wrong, like I was trying to drive the car from the backseat, or from the passenger's side of the car, or the brakes weren't working, or the steering wheel wouldn't turn. Inevitably, I would lose control of the car, and it was quite frustrating and scary. Eventually, I realized that it was my subconscious telling me that I wasn't in control of my own future and someone else had the wheel, so to speak. A large part of my journey from last year was freeing myself from that person's negative influence. Since then, the bad driving dreams have stopped. Merely wishing away the dreams wouldn't have done it; I needed to root out the current issue. (Thanks, brain, for alerting me to the problem, even when I didn't know!)

Sometimes you just have to accept the dreams and let the message through. I used to have the car dreams like Xiao. I did not like those.

I know what my desires and needs are that I believe the dreams are telling me, but I am really trying to forget about this person. Could it maybe be because she still has something of mine and hasn't been able to give it back yet? As in we are still connected and until she breaks her part of the connection I am stuck dreaming about her?
