Deities for magical aid

Postby earthsister » Fri Apr 10, 2015 6:00 am

Hmmm.......... I'm just wondering, do you, people when doing magic/working spells, brewing concoctions, crafting charms, amulets, talismans always call on your deity for help?

Well, I'm just working with three deities and they are quite happy to lend a hand when needed but only if I truly need it and giving them offering in return as a sign of gratitude.

For most spell work I usually do not ask my deities for help.

So, if you do use the help of a deity, then does the magick come from you? I'm still confused on this issue. Thanks!

I try to do my spells with my own energy without help and then I ask them for their blessing.

The general attitude of my deities toward assistance with energy work is more like "Why don't you just do it yourself? Why do you need me to help you with this trivial thing?"

It makes sense, gives me the push to try to do things on my own and test my limitations. But it also gives me some perspective in my life too, which is amazingly helpful.

Though I do ask for assistance in some things that are crucial for survival (i.e. giving me a push in the right direction towards taking care of my mental health, helping me see where to go to find work when I was unemployed, etc...). They don't always answer, but I feel better for putting it out in the universe anyway.

I never call on some of my Deific Daemons and Adversaries like Ereshkigal, Kali, Liwyathan, Eris, etc. for aid with magick and the Orisha Gbigona (or the temperamental, avenging Gods) such as Oya, Shango and Oggun and if I did, They would probably smile mischievously and tell me sarcastically, "why not figure it out yourself, huh?"

My relationship with Them is bit weird . They don't like us to have this relationship where They are the Parent and I am Their child. As such I'm dependent on Them. Therefore, it's a relationship of dependency. They really want me to make it on my own. They say I have choices and preferences, and They generally keep out their HELP and SUPPORT (in terms of magickal and some mundane aid) until I learn and acknowledge something. They teach me that what happens to me is a direct consequence of my relationship with Them and to my relationship with other beings and the Nature. Therefore, what happens to me -- and how that which happens to me affects me -- is determined by my relationship to the Universe. It is them who give obstacles along my journey based on my relationship and so when I'm having problems and I want some magickal aid to solve or overcome them, They always tell me, "we're not going to help you, figure it out yourself!"

Well as for my other Deities such as the Orisha Funfun (the cool, calm Gods), Loas, Brighid, Lakshmi, Ganesha, Hekate, Hermes, my Mesopotamian Gods and some Goetic Daemons, I have called on several of Them to help me with my magickal workings such as spellwork but not on a regular basis since some of Them require a 'payment' to make. Though not all of Them and There are times, emotions behind the spell is enough; like the emotions I pour into my spells when I do a healing spell that pleads for the recovery of a loved one from a serious illness (so it really depends on the spell, I am performing).

But despite all that, it's actually VERY rare that I call on Deity help for magick.
