Re: ROLL CALL!

Postby Blackthorn » Sun Mar 22, 2015 4:11 pm

I feel VERY lucky and blessed to have the parents that I do, particularly my mum. I've mentioned on this forum that I joined OBOD when I was 17 years old, and that was because my mum bought it for me as a birthday present. I don't think she really understood what it was, but she has always been supportive of anything I want to do that she knows is important to me. For example, when I told them I was dropping out of university to learn how to fly planes instead LOL. I'm 25 now and have lived away from home since my late teens, and my parents aren't aware of my spirituality, but I'm sure when my mum comes to visit and sees my altar (that I am in the veeery slow process of renovating) - her response will be along the lines of, "hey that's interesting. What's that for? Ok cool".

At the same time, I don't really talk to my family about my spirituality, or my friends for that matter. So this forum community has become essential to me.

That's really awesome, Syelraedhel. My mum is actually very encouraging and supportive in most areas, she's just a bit weird about religion. She is quite open and tolerant, except with me it seems. (I think I'm the only daughter who's really questioned Christianity). She once bit my head off for saying the bible was written by man. lol Then after like 15 minutes of silence, she says it was inspired by God. I just kept quiet. I've learned to avoid the topic of religion with her.

Having an online community has been essential to me as well.

Well, a lot of you are in a much better situation than where I am in now. Well, whenever the first opportunity arrives I am moving away from my mom(even if its just a college dorm room or something similar). I just...need to get out, so to speak.
Until then though, I will have to continue to go undercover *cue dramatic spy music*
And parents are indeed scary...especially mothers *shivers*
May the light always guide you on a dreary day.

lol yes. I remember that feeling. It can sometimes be hard to just be yourself under your parents roof. I hope you are able to soon! Nice music. ;)

I remember how that is. My mom is an ordained minister. (Cue dramatic music).... I'm still in the broom closet with her and the rest of my immediate family except my daughter, stepson, hubby (getting married April 4th) and some friends.
