My birth name is Nicallette, however, Nica is completely suitable if you'd prefer that instead. The fantastical forces of this beautiful world have always captivated my interests. While my practice is without the involvement of deities, I have nothing against the paths of others.

I aspire to thrive in balance with the Moon, Sun, elements, energies and animals of this world. As for the supernatural, I'm more on the skeptical side of that. I won't deny their existence, but I've never been shown their presence.

As a safeguard, I always try to be respectful, just in case. I'm a Pagan that focuses her intentions and crafts on the physical aspects of this world. I don't communicate with the deities, spirits, fae, ghosts, or possible afterlife. I may speak my thoughts aloud, but this is simply a method of contemplation.

I strive to implement science and spirituality together in duality. I follow a Pagan calendar, the Wheel of the Year, alongside the Greek myth of Demeter and Persephone with Hades included. Mythologies have been a constant passion of mine since the development in early childhood. I find Persephone's story very relatable, Demeter echoes of my mother and Hades can be a symbolism for a future significant other.

Hades appeals to me in various ways, but I shall try my best to explain them. In Greek mythology, Hades is discarded as a deity to be feared and never honored. However, he isn't the demonic figure that society has cursed him to become in their thoughts. He's the guardian of souls. He collects the souls of those departed and gives them a proper realm depending on the quality of their former lives. Everyone, not simply criminals or the dammed, belong to him.

Humans are frightened by death and they worry that allowing Hades into their knowledge will promise them an early death. This isn't so. Hades doesn't command when your life ends. In Greek mythology, that is the decision of the Fates. Even so, people associate him with the task. Hades is horribly misjudged by society.

While I, admittedly, fear death with great passion...I don't abandon the belief of Hades. If I'm to venture into his hands when my time arrives, then so be it. I'll be protected by him, reunited with my family and given my proper place of rest. Though I don't condone incest, it was common among the Greek culture, Hades and Persephone are a successful coupling.

They respect, honor and cherish each other. He makes her a Queen and Demeter brings her back to a Maiden. Persephone is his Queen, she governs the Underworld alongside him and he gives her equal reign over the realms. They have their difficulties, but theirs is the most stable of Greek relationships.

In closing, Hades both intrigues and terrifies me. To my eyes, he is the Reaper. The one who claimed souls answer to. He isn't a villain, though. He simply does his duty to the Underworlds. Hades represents Death, while Persephone is Rebirth. I adore them both so much.

I don't condone incest either, it is in a lot of myths, especially creation myths, like the Wiccan God and Goddess cycle. I think it's a representation of yin and yang, sort of like the primeval forces of the universe and humans have put their take on it through myths as a way to express their understanding of these forces.

I completely agree. I don't follow the God & Goddess cycle for the Wheel. I use the myth of Persephone, Demeter and Hades instead. Relating each Sabbat to their stories.

For myself I do use the Wiccan Wheel of the year because it keeps me is tune with nature and the seasons. I like to look at as many myths as I can. I think I just want to know how people see the world and to give me different perspectives. But at the moment I'm doing rituals for Bastet as I need the help keeping the house clean! Haha.
