Talking to the gods- I have no idea what I'm doing

Postby AnimalsAreAngels » Thu Jul 30, 2015 10:22 am

Um, hi there!
So I'm new, that's probably obvious.
I'm having a lot of trouble interacting with the gods, but most likley I'm doing this wrong.
I'm asking this specifically to people who have worked with theKemetic gods.
What am I supposed to do?
I've made offerings, but should I make a shrine to the god I'm offering to first?
And should I meditate while I'm doing it? Or should I keep my eyes open?
I really just need someone to slowly explain it to me

Any help is seriously appreciated!

What do you feel in your heart ?
That's where the answers hide !
Everyone's path is in my opinion
is different. We all have different
ideas as to what makes us feel good;
are we drawn to certain areas and
Deities.
On my own path my Deities have
changed, probably because my
interests have change and I've
evolved over time. We all do at
one point in time or as we feel
we have progressed and our
knowledge has increased over
time.
That is why there's a year and
a day to explore all the different
avenues, nooks and crannies and
our own hearts.
I wish you well on your quest in
this path at this time and may you
find yourself being immersed in
yourself.

Thank you :)
Coming from Christianity, I still have this "There's ONE way to do it and if you don't do it this way you will be cast into hell" mindset. I'm not used to such a free and personal relgion, and when I do things and they don't work I'm worried something bad will happen to me. Oh well. I'm learning, slowly. And I'll get there someday ^^

Communicating with spirits is like making a phone call. You need the right number, a phone that has power(can't make a call if your phone battery is dead ;)), and more importantly, a good enough reason for the Spirit to pick up the phone on their end.

Hello, AnimalsAreAngels, welcome to the forum! Why don't you head over to the introductions section and tell us a bit about yourself? (:

As for your question - There are so many ways you can try to talk to the Gods and Goddesses. I've used Tarot to ask simple questions, I've tried to speak mentally with them, meditation can be used, writing notes or even by simply just talking to them. There is no right or wrong way to do anything which I can understand is difficult to see when you come from a Christian upbringing. I have never experienced that kind of life, but having friends who have I understand to some degree. It'll become easier the more you begin to explore the path you wish to create for yourself.

Altars, in my opinion, are optional. There are so many things you can do to offer to your patrons without the use of one but I know many prefer to have one. You could meditate if you so chose or you could simply place the offering for them. It's whatever you feel is best for you.

Also - Don't be discouraged if you are unable to reach them right away. Sometimes it takes time and they will make themselves known to you when they feel the time is right. If there's anything I've learned with my experiences, most deities have a rhyme and reason for why they do as they do. Sometimes it has to do with lessons pertaining to your path and life as well.

I'm sure you will be just fine and I hope I helped answer some of your questions. I'm hoping others can chime in here and share their opinions and views too. You never know what you'll read and agree with so it's best to get many differing viewpoints.

Bright Blessings,

Sakura

When I was new into this stuffs, I only peeked at my obsidian ball to talk with my Deities. Because these are "Gods" of the other planes, I never dare call them into manifestation. I was afraid at that time. Not to mention that I work with Deific Daemons too. But I did ask for signs and messages.

As previously stated, there were many ways to communicate with the Higher Worlds but all of these ways have one commonality and similarity. They all lift ourselves up (our souls, our mind) -- people do stuffs we don't do in our mundane lives, in this finite world, when we're trying to touch the Transcendent.

Actually, from what I experienced it's difficult to have a dialogue or interaction with Supreme Beings, but imagine the potential power being utilized and enhanced. A relationship with the Deities of the Higher World has the power to change, to transform and to ascend.

But we have to want it. Just as every relationship requires tremendous effort in order to be rich, inspiring and successful, so does a relationship with a Divine Being. A relationship (friendship, business partnership, romantic relationship, brotherhood or sisterhood) needs daily, consistent acts of affirmation; our communication with our Deities needs to occur on a regular basis -- no matter how sleep deprived, stressed or problematic we were. Okay?

I completely relate! It's hard to de-program that thought process! Even though I never really subscribed to it, it's engrained in my upbringing!
