Activating a sigil or a spell
Hello guys, I am just stuck in that activate things. Normally, I do my spells on paper with a pen, (nothing anymore), And I found something like this called sigil. But I am not sure about activating a sigil like tear the paper down like what I do when I do a spell. I read that burning the paper can be useful but I do sigils a lot of time, I can't use a lighter to burn the paper out. So Can I tear the paper instead of burn? (Sorry for bad English, If you have problems for understand, I will try to explain it as well.)

It's not about the type of physical action. It's your intention that activates it. So yes, you can tear it.

They do it to symbolically send the intention energy to the metaphysical plane or cosmos. It's like you want it to send it there to do the work. But it is already there in the moment you want it.
It's like asking if you have to kneel during the prayer. It is something to help you focus, but the prayer is going to be equally effective whether you kneel, stand or run. The power is in your mind.
You can do anything that will make sense for you. It is your internal power that makes magic work, not some candle or incense. People use them only because they are physical beings and they love to touch and see things. It's more interesting and powerful with them.
Sorry fellow witches if I got something wrong. It's just how I understand that. Feel free to correct me.

Burning is a way to act-out releasing the power of the sigil. Tearing it up will also act-out the release. The sigil then no longer exists in the mundane world and therefore now exists on the etheric plane. That 's the idea, anyhow.

I pretty much agree. I personally don't cast circles, etc. I just do my thing. A witch I know doesn't use any tools and is pretty powerful. But like you said, I tend to simply enjoy the physicality of "stuff" ...smelling incense, seeing the beauty of lit candles, playing with oils and powders, etc. So, I will always be a big advocate of stuff, though admittedly, none of it is vitally necessary.It is your internal power that makes magic work, not some candle or incense. Thank you guys for helping me again. Similarly, I love papers. And tearing a piece of paper up makes me like "Now, All my problems gone..." when I feel bad or angry. This was my habit from my childhood (Bad English alert), And Also I love playing with little paper pieces, blow them out from my window to the outside etc. (Ehm, Did I do something wrong? Can this be a bad thing for nature?).

A few tiny pieces of paper won't hurt the nature but you might be aware of angry neighbours

Re: Activating a sigil or a spell
Chaos Magicians believe that by burning the paper, you "burn" the sigil into the Universe (I don't know if that makes much sense), so it manifests faster. They usually believe you need to immediately forget what the sigil was about, because your desire gets in the way of the manifestation of the sigil (the easiest way to do that is to make like 10 sigils for different things, leave them somewhere for about a week and then "send" them all at once and then stop thinking about it). So they usually "send" the sigil while in a state of gnosis which can be achieved in several ways.
I usually draw sigils on my candles and they work just fine. I also "send" sigils during my meditation. But if you can't use fire, I would suggest using water instead - like throw the piece of paper in a river or a stream (well, you get the idea). Or as Betweentwosides suggested, just blow them to the wind. Where one element works, the others should work too, I think.

That's a wonderful idea, Yanakhan! There's a creek near my house that I always pass when I go for a run that holds a bit of significance for me, since it provides nourishment to my familiar when she comes with me, and I never even thought to incorporate it in my magic but that makes a lot of sense.
I strove with none, for none was worth my strife.
Nature I loved and, next to Nature, Art:
I warm'd both hands before the fire of life;
It sinks, and I am ready to depart.
