New here

Postby desifuega » Tue Sep 05, 2017 12:19 am

Hello my dear and kindred spirits.

Am new here but not so new to the craft nor Wicca. I've been surrounded and exposed to it most of my life but as "something else." Born a Muslim and into a muslim household but my mother, grandmother would always see death in their dreams. Not soon after, would the person they dreamt about die.

As a young kid, if we were sick, we would go to my uncle's house who is now deceased. But he was a "healer." Now in mid-30's my sister and I, despite being 3K miles apart have found ourselves in this practice without saying a word to each other. Since the discovery, just a few months ago, it was basically our ah-ha moment. That this is exactly where we need to be. My sister by far is more knowledgeable and has reached more then I at this point. I feel pretty much like a novice. I love Wicca. And I think I've always been a Wiccan. I love mother earth, nature and being a fire sign, being able to ground myself when the time comes. Again, I'm here to learn and expand my knowledge and meet others who share my faith and philosophies. I am hoping this is a welcoming forum to novices like me and am humbled to be a part of it.

I uttered the words the other day to a close friend, I consider myself a witch. And had to clarify with that word meant. For the most part and I know I'm preaching to the choir, being a witch or Wiccan is not all bad. I imagine if my parents do find my alter room, they'd probably have a heart attack. But it's time for me to practice and believe in what my spirit and soul says I should.

A friend that I had dinner with tonight asked if I have ever done any spells, to which I replied. Yes. But a healing spell on myself. And sparing details, it worked almost immediately. But it does take a lot of energy out of me. I've also had very close friends ask me to read their cards. And friendships have ended as a result of what I see. I see truth and I tell them that. I lost a very close girlfriend over this because she came forth with ill intentions and it was very heartbreaking for me. Long story and too long for this intro section tonight. I'm sick and tired of people treating this as a parlor trick or ill joke. A reading is not a joke. It's a freaking reading. Don't ask for one if you are not prepared to be faced with the truth. This friend, despite my hospitality, left me house and hopped on a plane for TX without so much as a goodbye.

That's not a friend. At least in my opinion. So dear friends of this forum, I've been gifted with something and I honestly don't understand it, so go easy on me. As most of my encounters have ended with lost relationships or heartbreaks. I just simply at a point where I want to be near my kind to listen learn and observe.

Blessings.

Hi and welcome.

It seems every culture has some variation of folk magic, divination & psychic functioning and it all gets pooled together under a heading of witchcraft. I view these as normal human abilities. I hope you will be at ease and comfortable here.

What our experiences mean to us will shape our beliefs and spirituality. One person might be a bit more psychic than another, but intuitive faculties simply indicate the development of your natural human awareness and sensitivity to the living world.

Greetings!

I am curious - do you still hold any beliefs from you Muslim childhood? If that is too personal of a question, I apologize and feel free to disregard my post. It's just that I am Muslim yet not as rigid, in regards to sunnah and hadith, as some others are so I find your combination intriguing and my own suddenly less unique.

Hi All!

@Blackwolf, that's so interesting. I will never eat pork. I'm Gluten free and pescatarian anyway. My parents were total hippies growing up. We are not middle-eastern but could pass for it.

But Definitely believe the last two surahs Al-Nas and Al-Falak. It's talks about this very thing so it has to exist right? ha. I went to a Catholic Kindergarten and a private Christian school. Confused much? lol. My parents are pretty western but still eat Halal etc. Us kids are very liberal but out of respect to folks we keep these talks to ourselves whenever they come over. My last trip back home to CA, we had a family BBQ at my sisters. We were laughing so hard regarding her "massive cleanup" of all her wicca stuff and of course wine bottles from us "kids" hanging out there the night before. So that's how rigid were are haha. :) What made you interested in Wicca?

I have a little dog too.
This mumbo jumbo of Angels not coming around because of a harmless little dog is ridiculous. I've had her for 12 years and my parents finally gave in and she's allowed in their house now.

Welcome. I think Kermit the Frog summed things up very well when he said, "It's not easy being green." Not following a mainstream spiritual tradition that one was raised in, is like being green.

@Desifuega

I also attended a private Christian school growing up. Then I married a Buddhist, while hanging out in South East Asia and, eventually reverted to Islam (non sectarian and skeptical of all Hadith). You asked why my interest in Wicca. I consider this world an amazing creation and appreciate the opportunity to use it. I think it comes with all sorts of "magical" features. Mold can be made into antibiotics, decomposing fish fertilize gardens, etc. I think not trying to understand how to use the "gift" is like someone giving you the latest greatest smartphone and ya never take the time to learn how to maximize its potential. I don't wanna be that guy :)
