I just thought I would give everyone a glimpse of where I stand in my life right now that brought me to join this board. I was raised in a christian church my whole life. The church hurt me and scarred me badly many times. Therefore, I no longer attend. I haven't since the age of 21. But I still believe a lot of what they taught me but I disbelieve a lot of it too. I was raised in two different religions depending on where I was for the weekend, my grandmothers or home. (Southern Baptist and Assembly of God).
Since I have gotten older I realized that I didn't believe alot of the things they say. Mainly "wives should submit to their husbands as to the Lord.....". So I have been looking for a religion that I can believe in fully. I have yet to find it. I studied a little bit about Catholicism. But the only one that brings peace to my heart is the love of nature. I am really wanting to learn as much as I can about this to see where it ends up taking me.
Thanks,
Amy

Even if what you come to discover as the truth to your eyes isn't Wicca or Paganism, I wish you nothing but the best of success. I understand where you come from in the growing up questioning. (Methodist/Prespeterian/S.Babtist) I searched through every faith I could find people in or books on. At one point, I was a day from being a Mormon. For me, Wicca was the answer. It fit what I believed through observation and my own self reflection. I may be the answer for you and it may not. All I can say is that the day you find you spiritual answer will be a day that you will cherish and remember fondly for the rest of your days.
Blessed be in your searches and my the divine grace you soon.

The greatest advice I was ever given: It matters not what you believe. Only that you believe it wholeheartedly.
That is really interesting. I too was once only a day away from becoming a Mormon. My beloved grandmother after being Southern Baptist her whole life had converted to it because her new husband was mormon. After getting several very real signs that this was not for me, I finally realized them for what they were and put a stop to the process.
I am definately searching for what I do believe. I do believe in God so I think I will be one of those persons who gets a little from both religions. (Wicca and Christianity)
Thanks so much for the help. It really does make it better to know that other people besides me have struggled with this same problem. And it REALLY helps to know that you found answers too.
I am patiently searching for my own.
Thanks,
Amy

I understand completely where you are coming from..I was raised Christian as well(Church of Christ) then I married my husband and he was Baptist at the time ...Then him and I studied Jehovahs Witness and eventually were baptized into the Mormon Religion..Through all that though I was still missing something..I craved to feel the way the others did about Christ but just couldn't..I couldn't get close and I had so many beliefs that just didn't fit with their beliefs..such as psychic abilities and spirits and reincarnation ..I was not being true to myself..Once I started to learn about Paganism, it was like a light had been turned on in my soul..Like I'd come home..I'd found my path..I truly believe there are no right or wrong paths (religions) ..only right ones on an individual level..Whats right for me may or may not be right for you .. I wish you luck..and I truly hope you find yours..
