cigarettes = blah

Postby Brandon_Jay » Thu Jul 20, 2006 12:27 pm

Hello all,

I have smoked for eight years now and am ready ro quite. The withdrawals are not fun and I still crave a cigarette most of the time I was wondering if anyone has some advice that may have worked for them or someone they have known.

I know this is not a quite smoking forum but as a pagan I feel like I damge the earth little by little, I know the affects a filter can do to the ground, and evening throwing them away can be an issue.

Thank you in advance for any respone and advice.

Well, I know people who have gotten of it through hypnosis. That might work for you. Just stay strong, and you will be able to strive.

An ye harm none, do what ye will. None also means yourself. So just the fact that you're smoking is a violation of the Wiccan Rede. That right there should be enough to make you stop. However (agh..there's always a however) there are several quit smoking programs out there. I was one of the lucky ones. I can go out, have a few smokes and not crave one the next day. WHen I quit smoking, I went through no withdrawls or other bad side-effects. My In-laws smoke like the cigarettes are loaded with Vitamin C and Calcium or something but they can't quit. They've smoked thousands of dollars away and probably a few of the years of life they won't be able to spend with their grandchildren. Man, just stop. Quit, grin and bear it. Trust me, you'll get better. Maybe not tomorrow, or 3 days from now, or a week. But soon enough...you'll get through it. And your lungs and the rest of the Earth will thank you for it.

If you dont think you cant do it alone there are medasin docters can give you. Welbutrin is one that i know of, Its helps with habbits. I'm not on it for smokeing but it has also made me lose a whole lot of waight in a short amount of time witch isnt so healthy. My father was on it for a while for smokeing, he didnt smoke at all when he was on it, didnt get the erge, didnt even think about it. But a week after he got off it he started agin. There are also nateral stop smokething things.

This is sort of long, sorry.

Well, when I was making my book of shadows I came across many, many spells and remedies. I slightly remember this one about helping you overcome an obstacle. I only remember a little bit from it so the rest I'm going to tweek and you may tweek it to your desire also. You take a white rope, not long, just a small piece of rope. Tie it so there is a knot in the middle. This represents your obstacle. Dip both ends in an oil that corresponds to what you need. (For example an oil that corresponds to strength- which is the strength to overcome cravings.) It could be two diff. oils or the same oil on both ends. Ask your favorite god/goddess to bless you and this project. You could do this in ritual form with the whole casting of the circle or you could get creative as long as you feel the presence/energy of the god/goddess within the rope. It should feel a sort of charge. Then carry this piece of rope with you. You could make a necklace/bracelet out of it. You could just put it in your pocket and carry it around. Be creative. Then whenever you have withdrawl or really feel that you need a little help, Hold it and feel the energy and the presence. Feel the knot, smell the oils. Let your body be infused with the power and energy of all the things this symbol has.

I'm not sure how well this will work for you. It worked well for me with other problems but I've never used it to stop smoking as I do not smoke. It's not a spell or a quick fix, but it is something you can use along with whatever else you are doing to quit and it just helps give you a little focus. Because, people can just tell you to stop but I know it's hard to just sit there with withdrawl. This will at least occupy you and keep you focused on your goal. You do not have to do it the way I put it, you may change it as much as you'd like or not use it at all. Just be creative and have a great day. Sorry for how long this was...

Two methods I used. The first was when I quit for almost three years. I simply started smoking a couple less cigs in a day. Then a few less the next week and so on. Slowly weined myself off of the nicotine.

Then I joined the NAVY...

I had a friend of mine keep me from smoking for a while by making a deal with me. I could smoke all I want, but he'd punch me in the lung, not the ribs but the lung, if he caught me. It happened once. He upper jabbed me in the floater ribs and it was 15 minutes before I was off of the deck of the liberty launch taking us to peir.

I guess I should mention that my friend was a Gunners mate and former SEAL. He had arms like my leg and leaned into the strike.

I was too scared the rest of cruise to smoke because I just KNEW the moment I did, he'd come out of the shadows or be painted like the wall and nail me. Fear works wonders.

Hope this helps. Though I would not recomend the later of these two methods.

Good luck. Lord and Lady be with you.

When the craving comes on, inhale the same way you do when you smoke...if you need a prop, go for it. It helped me.

I used to rub snuff but I don't know if you would call it the same but I quit for my girlfriend and thats my reason. If you have a reason maybe and stick to it you may stop smoking because I had a reason why to quit. :( I do miss it but I know in the long shot....... it's worth it to me because I still have the person I really love.
